Plumbers in the Department of General Services support the safe operation of plumbing and piping systems across multiple facility types. This role requires independent decision making, steady technical skill, and a commitment to high quality work. You will perform a variety skilled plumbing duties independently and working as a team with other tradespersons or supervisors. As a Plumber, you will perform the following duties:
- System Troubleshooting: Review plumbing and piping issues, identify deficiencies, and take steps to prevent further damage
- Routine Maintenance: Perform preventative and corrective tasks on water, sewer, stormwater, irrigation, and HVAC piping systems
- Fixture Installation: Install and replace pumps, valves, faucets, traps, and related fixtures while following established procedures
- Pipefitting Tasks: Cut, bend, ream, thread, weld, solder, and groove pipe for multiple system types
- Documentation and Records: Maintain accurate system information, use electronic tools, and record work activity in the CMMS
- Safety and Compliance: Follow safety protocols and apply applicable codes and regulations in daily work

Work Schedule and Additional Information:
- Full-time employment
- Work hours are 7:00 AM to 3:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with 30-minute lunch.
- Essential Employee Required to report to work during emergencies and office closings.
- Telework: You will not have the option to telework in this position.
- Salary: In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable.

QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:
- Three years of experience in the installation, repair, and maintenance of plumbing components and fixtures; or
- An equivalent combination of experience and training.
Special Requirements:
- This position requires possession of an active motor vehicle license.
Additional Requirement:
- You must be able to perform essential job functions.
Preferred Qualifications (not required):
- Willing and able to work in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania
- Experience reading and interpreting blueprints
- Experience replacing/repairing water mains
