This is an important engineering position involving responsibility for overseeing all maintenance and repair activities in the city's sewage treatment plant. The incumbent is responsible for monitoring operations of plant and outlying areas through a plant maintenance management computer system. The work is performed under the supervision of the Treatment Plant Superintendent, however, the incumbent is allowed much leeway in independent decision-making. Supervision is exercised over personnel assignedOversees and directs the overall structural maintenance and preventative maintenance of the treatment plant, including outlying districts;
Supervises assigned personnel in making periodic inspections of plant machinery and equipment to determine its condition and operating security;
Supervises assigned personnel in the repair, replacement and/or installation of plant machinery and equipment;
Oversees and directs assigned personnel in maintaining accurate records of all maintenance and repair operations, including labor, materials and costs using an updated maintenance management computer system;
Maintains and updates planning, purchasing, and inventory requirements of mechanical maintenance and equipment;
Supervises the training of personnel in the plant maintenance management computer system;
Prepares and submits reports as required;
Performs related duties as required. (A) Bachelors Degree from an accredited college or university in Mechanical Engineering or a closely related field and five (5) years of full-time responsible experience in large plant operations, including plant maintenance management computer systems used for controlling and monitoring the process and equipment of a plant;
Thorough knowledge of plant maintenance management computer system used for controlling and monitoring the process and equipment of a plant;
Working knowledge of plant machinery and equipment;
Knowledge of inspection principles and procedures;
Ability to write reports and maintain accurate records;
Ability to plan and supervise the work of others;
Ability to train personnel in the use of plant maintenance management computer system;
Ability to perform complex mathematical operations;
Ability to solve problems;
Ability to give clear oral instructions;
Physical condition commensurate with the demands of the position.

(B) Associates Degree from an accredited college or university in Mechanical Engineering or a closely related field and seven (7) years of full-time responsible experience in large plant operations, including plant maintenance management computer systems used for controlling and monitoring the process and equipment of a plant;OR
(C) An equivalent combination as defined within the limits of A and B.
