Senior Mechanical Engineer | Manhattan, NY
IMEG is hiring a Senior Mechanical Engineer in a brand-new Manhattan office, to lead the planning, design, and delivery of healthcare-focused mechanical systemsincluding HVAC, Plumbing, and Fire Protection. In this role, youll collaborate with clients and multi-discipline teams to develop code-compliant, high-performing solutions that support safe, efficient, and resilient facilities.
Principal Responsibilities
Lead the design of healthcare mechanical systems (HVAC, Plumbing, and Fire Protection) from concept through construction
Serve as a technical leader for project execution, coordination, and delivery across internal and external stakeholders
Develop and review engineering calculations, drawings, specifications, and technical documentation for accuracy and completeness
Coordinate with other disciplines to resolve clashes, improve constructability, and support integrated design outcomes
Support client communication and technical decision-making throughout project development
Guide quality control efforts and ensure compliance with applicable codes, standards, and IMEG practices
Provide construction administration support, including responses to RFIs/submittals and field observations as needed
Mentor and support the growth of engineering staff through technical guidance and project leadership
Required Qualifications and Skills
Bachelors degree in Mechanical Engineering
Professional Engineer (PE) license
14+ years of experience
Mastery of design techniques, tools, and concepts involved in the production of technical plans and specifications
Mastery of technical and analytical skills including proficiency of principles in thermodynamics, psychrometrics, heat transfer and fluid mechanics relating to mechanical design in HVAC, plumbing and fire protection systems
Strong training, mentoring and leadership skills
Ability to perform final quality control check in their area of expertise
Ability to sell work and develop client relationships
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills; ability to clearly communicate in both oral and written communication to individuals or groups
Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment
Attention to detail and problem-solving skills
Eagerness to adapt to new challenges
Proficient with MS Office Suite including but not limited to Word, Excel, and Outlook
Ability to travel up to 25% with occasional overnight stays

State of New York Salary Range: $130,000 $180,000
Minimums and maximums may vary based on location. Individual pay will be based on several factors including experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities of the applicant. Other rewards may include annual bonuses and stock ownership options.
