POSITION SUMMARY
This position is responsible for maintaining the plant's electrical equipment, including heating and air conditioning at a medium to large water/wastewater treatment facility. This individual directs the activities and duties of assigned subordinate electricians, assigns tasks, trains, schedules, plans, consults, and authorizes procedures to be followed. The individual in this position will be called on to perform hands-on electrical repairs of varying complexity.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Maintains a program of repair and preventive maintenance for electrical equipment, buildings, and facilities owned by the project.
2. Coordinates with other divisions, departments, Authority inspectors, and contractors on project repairs and modifications.
3. Analyzes work orders and problems, estimates job requirements, authorizes corrective action, materials, and labor within the stated guidelines of the division, department, Authority and/or Electrical/Electronics Division Chief. Documents and records needed data and information. Completes project and Authority forms accurately and in a timely manner.
4. Responsible for the safety of all subordinate employees. Inspects subordinates' work, assists subordinates as needed, and leads work on complicated jobs as required. Leads a group of non-exempt technical and maintenance employees to include training and scheduling. Oversees that Authority tools, equipment, and vehicles are operated by maintenance personnel in a safe manner and/or within the manufacturer's guidelines for proper usage and/or within the policy and procedures of the division, department, the Project and/or the Authority.
5. Directly supervises a group of more junior-level maintenance employees to include hiring, career development training, on-the-job training, scheduling, and performance evaluation. Ensure that all safety guidelines and security measures as established by the Authority are followed. Provide operational, technical, and safety training to subordinates. Functions as a training instructor. Will be required to develop training aids and/or materials.
6. Performs the duties of Electrical/Electronics Division Chief as required.
7. May be responsible for responding to various emergency situations, including after-hours, as directed by supervisor.
8. Employees assigned to this position are classified as essential personnel. Essential personnel are required to report to work when scheduled during departmental and/or emergency situations including, but not limited to, extended periods of inclement weather when travel may be difficult. This position is essential because in the absence of sufficient personnel, the plant cannot operate safely.

QUALIFICATIONS
EDUCATION
High school diploma or GED; sixty college credit hours preferred or equivalent technical education.
EXPERIENCE
Two years of experience as a Senior Electrician or equivalent experience; one-year supervisory experience preferred. Four years of experience as a Journeyman or possess a Master Electrician license.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS
Valid Texas driver's license. Minimum current State of Texas Journeyman Electrical license required.
KNOWLEDGE
Thorough understanding of electrical theory and practices. Knowledge of tools, equipment, and materials pertaining to electrical maintenance. Knowledge of the installation, maintenance, and safe operation of electrical equipment and current electrical construction codes, practices and standards. Knowledge of safety pertaining to electrical distribution systems and equipment.
SKILLS AND ABILITIES
Ability to read electrical schematic drawings and one-line drawings. Must be a self-starter with the ability to make decisions and exercise good judgment.
GUIDANCE RECEIVED
Receives periodic supervision and uses guidelines/range of procedures. Follows periodic direct instructions and guidelines, uses policies and procedures that require some interpretation. Problems that cannot be addressed through an existing guideline, policy, or procedure are referred to a supervisor or more senior position. The Incumbent must exercise judgment about whether to escalate issues.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
This position requires passing a physical and physical ability assessment specific to this position.
WORKING CONDITIONS
Working conditions include exposure to extreme weather, odor, noise, chemical hazards, gases, and dust, standing for prolonged periods of time, walking up and down several flights of stairs, climbing and descending ladders, working with low/high voltage, working at heights, and working in tight or confined spaces.

Electrical testing equipment, hand tools, PPE, power tools, office equipment, pickup truck, and bucket truck.
