The Operations Supervisor will oversee all operations activities within the assigned geographical area. This role is responsible for driver or laborer safety and operational efficiency. This role observes and analyzes the overall efficiency of the department to ensure things are moving smoothly as well as report findings to upper management as needed.Reports ToOperations ManagerResponsible for driver or laborer safety including safety training, safety planning, incident reporting, etc.Accountable for scheduling shifts, planning for call-ins/no shows, and reporting department metrics and performanceResponsible for facility or route optimization and coverage at all timesProactively evaluate and perform facility, area or route visits and assessmentsIf applicable, evaluate customer support and problem solving to find solutions to customer issuesRespond positively to unpredictable situations or problems that can occur throughout their work responsibilitiesResponsible for leading and supervising laborers or drivers within the assigned facility or geographical area by continually evaluating performance and delivering feedbackRespond positively to unpredictable situations or problems that can occur throughout work responsibilitiesSet a motivational tone and establish a high degree of optimism focused on employees in the work environmentScope of Responsibility:The Operations Supervisor is responsible for overseeing daily operations within an assigned geographic area, directly supervising drivers and/or laborers and ensuring safe, efficient, and compliant operations. This role has decision-making authority related to staffing, scheduling, route or facility optimization, and performance management, with a direct impact on productivity, safety outcomes, and service delivery. The position monitors operational performance, addresses issues in real time, and implements improvements to support overall departmental effectiveness and business objectives.Knowledge and Skill Requirements:High school diploma or GED is requiredMinimum 3 years of experience as Operations Supervisor, preferably from the waste management, manufacturing or trucking/transportation IndustryMust have a commercial driver's license (CDL) or willing to obtain one (if supervising drivers)Education & Experience:Ability to multi-taskStrong organizational, written, and verbal communication skillsMust be a self-starter with a strong level of accountabilityEssential to be detailed orientedUpbeat and energized to complete tasks with a positive attitudeMust work well under pressureExcellent Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, & Outlook Software SkillsAbility to perform physical requirements of the jobAbility to work in all weather conditionsExperience with routine maintenance operationsFluency in Spanish is a plusPhysical Demands & Work Environment:Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer. Frequent use of hands and fingers to handle, control, or feel objects, tools, or controls. Regularly required to talk and hear, both in person and by phone or web meetings. Occasionally required to stand, walk, and reach with hands and arms. Ability to read and interpret data on a computer screen or printed documents. Work is performed in an office environment with moderate noise levels, in a climate-controlled environment with heating and air conditioning. May be required to move around the work site and may be exposed to various weather conditions, including extreme heat, cold, rain, and snow. May be exposed to high noise levels from trucks and machinery while outside typical office setting.
