Plumbing Foreman Job Description This role leads plumbing installations and service work on custom homes and complex, high-end residential projects. Research, locate, and order all necessary materials and parts for each project, including preparing accurate materials lists. Install, inspect, and oversee plumbing systems including water, waste, and vent piping, gas piping, radiant floor heating, boilers, and tankless water heaters. Size gas systems correctly and ensure proper design and installation of all plumbing and mechanical systems in custom homes. Coordinate and communicate effectively with clients, subcontractors, inspectors, and internal team members throughout each project. Handle conflicts or client concerns with professionalism, focusing on service-oriented and practical solutions. Ensure jobsite safety and compliance with OSHA regulations, company policies, and industry best practices. Perform and delegate daily tasks, including rough-in and new construction plumbing work, service tasks, and punch-list items. Complete and oversee job documentation, including change orders, project paperwork, and daily reporting. Support estimating, budgeting, and planning phases of projects as needed with field input and technical expertise. Utilize computer systems and software, including email and Bluebeam, to manage job documentation, submit reports, and send professional communications. Help oversee multiple jobs simultaneously and assist with scheduling and resource management across projects. Drive and care for a company service van when assigned, following all safety and driving policies. Maintain a clean, organized, and professional jobsite, ensuring tools, materials, and equipment are used and stored properly. Train, mentor, and guide less experienced plumbers and apprentices to support their growth and maintain high standards on site. Perform any additional related tasks required to keep projects running smoothly and efficiently. Essential Skills Minimum of 5 years of experience in a plumbing foreman or lead plumbing role on residential or custom home projects. Strong hands-on plumbing experience, including rough-in and new construction plumbing work. Deep understanding of plumbing codes and custom home plumbing systems. Proven experience with radiant heating systems, radiant floor heating, boiler systems, and gas system sizing. Strong knowledge of water, waste, and vent systems and their installation in residential construction. Ability to read, interpret, and work from blueprints, architectural drawings, plumbing plans, and construction documents. Demonstrated experience leading plumbing crews and coordinating work on active construction sites. Excellent problem-solving skills with the ability to troubleshoot complex plumbing and system issues. Strong leadership abilities with experience delegating tasks, managing crews, and holding teams accountable. Outstanding customer service skills and professional verbal and written communication abilities. Proficiency with basic computer systems and professional email communication. Additional Skills & Qualifications Journeyman plumbing license or equivalent level of trade proficiency. Experience using Bluebeam or similar construction and plan review software. Skill in client communication and conflict resolution in the field. Familiarity with tankless water heaters and their installation and service. Comfort working within a crew size of approximately 10-12 people on construction sites. Flexibility to support multiple projects and adjust to changing priorities as needed.
