Operator Job Description This role focuses on machine operation within a manufacturing environment, supporting production through the setup, operation, and monitoring of manual equipment. You will be responsible for producing high-quality parts, performing inspections, and maintaining equipment to ensure efficient and consistent output. The position offers cross-training opportunities across various machines and processes, providing a hands-on role in a clean, temperature-controlled production environment. Responsibilities Set up and operate production machines according to work instructions, blueprints, job orders, and other released documentation. Adjust and monitor machine parameters to ensure parts meet dimensional and quality requirements within specified tolerances. Use calipers, gauges, and other measurement tools to produce and verify parts to specification. Perform machine changeovers, tear-downs, and properly store tooling, fixtures, and related equipment after use. Verify dimensions and features of products using measurement tools and blueprints to confirm compliance with specifications. Maintain good housekeeping by keeping machines, tools, and work areas clean, organized, and safe. Perform basic troubleshooting of machines and processes to resolve minor issues and maintain production flow. Read and interpret blueprints and work instructions to understand part requirements and machine setup procedures. Monitor production output and identify any defects or inconsistencies during the manufacturing process. Perform visual and dimensional inspections on in-process and finished parts to ensure quality standards are met. Communicate effectively with team members and supervisors regarding machine performance, production status, and quality issues. Cross-train on multiple types of equipment and manufacturing processes to support production needs. Follow all safety procedures and production guidelines while contributing to an efficient and team-oriented manufacturing environment. Essential Skills At least 1 year of experience in a manufacturing or machine operating environment. Experience operating production machinery, with the ability to learn and operate multiple types of equipment. Basic ability to read and interpret blueprints and work instructions. Ability to stand on your feet for up to 10 hours per day. Ability to lift up to 30 pounds. Strong mechanical aptitude and comfort working with machines, tools, and equipment. Good attendance, reliability, and clear communication skills. Basic computer skills for operating machine interfaces or production systems. Attention to detail for measurement, inspection, and quality control tasks. Additional Skills & Qualifications Experience in general labor, manufacturing, or general production environments. Experience in assembly, production, or warehouse operations. Experience as a machine operator or in machine operation, particularly with manual equipment. Exposure to CNC and laser equipment, with openness to cross-training on these technologies. Experience with packaging, inspection, and the use of hand tools in a production setting. Familiarity with ERP or other production tracking systems. Positive attitude, willingness to learn, and openness to training on new processes and equipment.
