Work Schedule:
Monday - Thursday 6:30am - 5:00pm "OR"
Tuesday - Friday 6:30am -5:00pm
What You'll Do:
In this role, you'll operate heavy equipment safely and effectively to support the maintenance and construction of City and State stormwater systems. You'll be a key part of a crew responsible for ensuring Greensboro's infrastructure is reliable, safe, and compliant with environmental and public safety standards.
Key Responsibilities:
Operate a variety of heavy power-driven equipment such as backhoes, excavators, and loaders.
Perform construction and maintenance work on roads, drainage systems, and rights-of-way.
Read and interpret maps, operating manuals, and safety procedures.
Follow work orders and route maps to complete daily assignments.
Identify and report potential safety hazards or unsafe conditions on worksites.
Support stormwater repair and cleanup operations during weather-related emergencies.
Adapt to changing priorities and work conditions, including inclement weather or emergency response.

Minimum Qualifications:
High School Diploma/GED, with 1+ years experience operating heavy equipment - i.e., paver, backhoes, front end loader, excavator, and/or skid steers
No High School Diploma/GED, with 5-7 years experience operating heavy equipment - i.e., paver, backhoes, front end loader, excavator, and/or skid steers
Valid driver's license
Class A or B Commercial Driver's License
("OR" the ability to obtain a tanker endorsement within 120 days of employment).
If assigned to the Storm Water Division-- * Additional Requirements Needed
Miner Certification
("OR' the ability to obtain within one year of the hire date)
A forklift operator's license is required if operating a forklift
('OR" the ability to obtain within 1 year of hire date) ,
Preferred Qualifications:
- Class A or B Commercial Driver's License with Tanker Endorsement
