Job Description Join a dynamic multi-disciplinary architecture and engineering firm located in Evansville, IN, as a Structural Engineer. This role offers the opportunity to work on a diverse range of industrial, institutional, and commercial projects across the tri-state area, providing full-service consulting and design/build services. Be a part of a highly experienced structural engineering team supported by drafters and a mechanical team. Responsibilities
- Utilize computer design software for design, including knowledge of building construction materials, general connection types used in construction, and brace & moment frame design.
- Interpret and apply the structural sections of the building code (seismic, wind, and snow drift loading).
- Design and layout commercial and industrial building steel systems, including foundations.
- Develop detailed designs of steel, concrete, concrete block, and other common structural materials for building projects.
- Create construction document packages based on project requirements, coordinating with other disciplines (mechanical, architectural, and electrical), directing drafting personnel, and checking project construction documents.
- Review job-specific material specifications.
- Attend client meetings to understand job/owner requirements and expectations, including project review, construction, and project closeout meetings.
- Develop engineering scopes after helping clients determine project requirements.
- Perform project shop drawing and submittal reviews.
- Conduct on-site inspections of structural system installations and on-site surveys to establish and document accurate field conditions.
- Direct drafting personnel to develop project documents and check their work.
- Perform own drafting when necessary using AutoCAD and/or Revit.
- Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering.
- 3+ years of specific structural engineering experience in industrial, institutional, or commercial projects.
- Proficiency in creating drawings in AutoCAD or Revit.
- Ability to use RISA for 2D and 3D modeling.
- Willingness to occasionally visit job sites and move around the structure.
- Initiative and self-learner personality.
- Professional Engineer (PE) license is a plus.
- Experience with Revit.
- Direct experience with industrial projects and/or within design/build environments.
