The project:

Mace is seeking a full-time cost consultant for life science and manufacturing & technology projects to work directly with our clients on capital projects in the Indianapolis, Indiana area. Looking for enthusiastic individuals who are passionate about cost and commercial management to work within our life science and manufacturing & technology sectors. Our team in Indianapolis, Indiana is looking to recruit a cost consultant with life sciences sector experience who can provide full cycle cost management services for ongoing commissions in the Indianapolis and surrounding areas.

  • You will support cost planning including ownership of and presenting cost plans to clients and internal stakeholders.
  • You will support the procurement process, ensuring stages including prequalification, enquiry, analysis, selection and contract preparation are performed effectively.
  • You will support the delivery of cost management services to deliver key strategic outcomes and KPIs, directly influencing strategic development of plans.
  • Serving as a client-facing senior cost consultant lead who assists with strategic, tactical, and technical advice.
  • Managing and growing cost management teams or accounts.
  • Interfacing with clients, external and internal consultants at all project stages.
  • Conducting feasibility studies and production of procurement reports.
  • Producing of ROMs for new and pipeline projects for a project budget to be based on.
  • Day-to-day cost management of medium-large scale client projects including procurement, pay requests, change management and cost reporting.
  • Applying value management techniques at the outset of a project involving existing protocols and systems.
  • Managing, estimating and cost planning activities to include taking ownership of and presenting the final cost plan.
  • Managing the procurement process, ensuring that all stages including, pre-qualification, enquiry, evaluation, selection and contract preparation are performed effectively.
  • Ensuring that post contract cost variances, change control, cost checking and valuation processes are managed effectively.
  • Ensuring the production of monthly post contract and cost reports and presenting them to the client.
  • Providing value engineering and life cycle costing.
  • Managing the final account negotiation and agreement.
  • Ongoing updating of benchmarking efforts as new projects are executed to provide real cost data to client.

You'll need to have:

  • Previous experience in a cost consultancy practice in a similar role.
  • Previous experience working within the Life Science sector on capital projects
  • Cost planning, budgeting and estimating experience.
  • Previous experience of managing people and risk management.
  • Knowledge of contract law and contractual frameworks relating to construction.
  • Sound knowledge and ability to undertake and advise on Contract Administration
  • Knowledge of value engineering and life cycle costing.
  • Strong understanding of industry best practice.
  • Understanding of hot topic issues such as sustainability, social value, carbon reduction impacting public sector
  • Capex V Opex Cost Analysis/advice.
  • A relevant degree (MS or MBA preferred).
  • Demonstrated capital program experience.
  • Worked with integrated teams on large, complex and multi-phase life science and manufacturing & technology capital programs.
  • Knowledge of multiple delivery methods, including alternative project delivery (design build and construction manager at risk).

You'll also have:

  • Degree in quantity surveying/cost management (or equivalent).
  • Professional membership or working towards i.e. MRICS/RICS (or equivalent), or equivalent demonstrable professional or personal development.
  • Commercial and financial acumen.
  • Knowledge of value engineering, life cycle costing, contract law and contractual frameworks relating to construction.
  • Experience of managing parts of projects within large, diverse teams.
  • Experience of developing relationships with key senior stakeholders.
  • Knowledge of how carbon and sustainability considerations will shape the outlook of the projects you are working on.

The estimated salary for this position is $100,000. Starting salary may vary based on permissible, non-discriminatory factors such as experience, skills and qualifications.
