Skilled Utility Excavator Operator ($1,500 Sign-On Bonus)

SUMMARY

Operate a variety of heavy equipment including, but not limited to, excavator/trackhoe, loader, backhoe, bulldozer, dump truck, tamper, and water truck.

TYPICAL DAILY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

• Conduct routine inspections on equipment including moving parts, welds, and structural integrity prior to operating. Inform supervisor of all defects and malfunctions.
• Perform minor adjustments as needed. Assist mechanic with major repairs.
• Perform routine maintenance including lubricating, fueling, and cleaning equipment.
• Monitor gauges and other indicators ensuring safe operation.
• Grade, shape, and form work area.
• Backfill, spread fill, stabilize stone, load trucks and dump buckets, transport dump buckets, and move equipment - including rigging and attaching equipment to bucket hook.
• Adhere to all safety rules, guidelines, and codes.
• Maintain records of time worked and materials used.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
• High school diploma or GED plus three (3) years of direct underground utilities experience or training required
• Maintain a valid Driver's License
• Knowledge of all heavy equipment operations including best practices in safe operation and maintenance
• Ability to appropriately judge distances, slopes, and depths accurately
• Ability to read engineer drawings, in some cases
• Ability to read and understand simple instructions, short correspondences, memos, and blueprints
• Ability to write simple correspondences and complete logs
• Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide
• Must understand and be committed to jobsite, workplace, and heavy equipment safety standards and processes
