The Education and Labor Cabinet's mission is to educate, prepare and train Kentucky's current and future workforces. The cabinet is seeking to fill a Facility Maintenance Supervisor I position located within the Office of Administrative Services, Operations and Support Services, Property Management.

Job duties include:

  • Supervises employees and contractors in the maintenance of building or facility and/or grounds in Jefferson County. Makes repairs and performs maintenance related duties by utilizing and supervising the use of power/manual tools and equipment. This includes but not limited to HVAC, mechanical, plumbing, electrical, carpentry, key duplication.
  • Requisitions materials and supplies using a pro-card and maintains equipment and inventory control necessary to perform maintenance related duties.
  • Reconciles statements and receipts for accuracy and reviews pro-card activity. Maintains a record of work-related activities at the various sites and submits monthly reports to supervisors.
  • Updates the facility maintenance list as needed.
  • Serves as the liaison with cabinet personnel and tenants regarding maintenance request and repairs. Knows policies and procedures and explains when necessary.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Minimum Requirements

EDUCATION: High school graduate.

EXPERIENCE, TRAINING, OR SKILLS: Three years of building maintenance, grounds maintenance, general trades, skilled trades, moving services or mechanical maintenance experience.

Substitute EDUCATION for EXPERIENCE: Formal training in one of the above or related fields will substitute for the experience on a year-for-year basis.

Substitute EXPERIENCE for EDUCATION: Experience in one of the above or related fields will substitute for the education on a year-for-year basis.

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS (AGE, LICENSURE, REGULATION, ETC.): NONE

Working Conditions

Will be on call 24 hours a day. Incumbents in this job title may be exposed to extreme temperatures which requires the following of safety procedures.

Probationary Period

This job has an initial and promotional probationary period of 6 months, except as provided in KRS 18A.111.
