The position: We are seeking to fill a Vehicle Mechanic position . Under supervision of the Vehicle Maintenance Supervisor, the Vehicle Mechanic inspects, diagnoses, maintains and repairs vehicles and equipment owned by SHA.

The ideal candidate has:
High school or equivalent education required by the apprenticeship program.
Completed four-year apprenticeship and/or are a journey level technician in the trade
ASE Certifications and/or recent experience/training on Hybrid and Electric vehicles are preferred
Must possess a valid Washington State Driver's License with insurable driving record.
What will you do?
- Inspect, diagnose, maintain, and repair mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic systems in various vehicles and equipment, such as cars, trucks, and forklifts
- Dismantle and overhaul all types of gasoline and diesel engines, transmissions, rear end assemblies, hydraulic and electric units, and brake systems
- Repair pumps, lights, steering gears, and generators
- Align wheels, adjust brakes, and perform other mechanical or electrical adjustments
- Use computer diagnostic equipment to determine repairs and maintenance required
- Road tests and inspects vehicles to ensure compliance with safety standards and effectiveness of repairs
- Develops and performs preventive maintenance programs on SHA tools and equipment.
- Responsible for requisitioning supplies and maintaining sufficient inventory to perform all aspects of work efficiently
- Performs metal fabrication services including welding, bending, cutting, and riveting
- Attend all required training and safety meetings; use, maintain and replace assigned personal protective equipment; report all injuries and illnesses to supervisor immediately; complete and submit incident/ accident reports as required; report hazardous conditions or unsafe work practices to supervisor; and follow all safety and health guidelines, practices, policies and procedures
