In this position, you will be responsible for ensuring that permit programs align with the overarching goals and objectives of the Department. This will involve organizing, directing, planning, and coordinating the strategic initiatives of all permit programs while addressing customer needs and expectations, as well as adhering to sound management practices and principles. You will conduct field inspections of permitted activities to confirm compliance with both the permit stipulations and Department regulations, overseeing various stages of construction work. Your duties will include assisting in the verification of grades, elevations, and the layout of structures and roadways in collaboration with contractors and surveyors. Additionally, you will inspect the installation of materials such as cement concrete, bituminous concrete, and drainage systems, as well as assess work zone traffic control measures, backfill materials, required compaction, and the restoration of highways, including road pavements and shoulders, all while prioritizing public safety. Furthermore, you will engage with Department personnel, as well as representatives from federal, state, and local agencies, legislators, and the general public to facilitate the effective administration of projects.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

• Full-time employment
• Work hours are 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch.
• Telework: You may have the opportunity to work from home (telework) part-time on an ad-hoc basis. In order to telework, you must have a securely configured high-speed internet connection and work from an approved location inside Pennsylvania. If you are unable to telework, you will have the option to report to the headquarters office in King of Prussia.

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

• One year as an Engineering Technician (Commonwealth job title or equivalent Federal Government job title, as determined by the Office of Administration); or
• Two years as a Transportation Technician or Construction Cost Technician 1 (Commonwealth job titles or equivalent Federal Government job titles, as determined by the Office of Administration); or
• Three years of experience in highway or bridge surveying, design, construction, or inspection work; or
• Three years of experience in quality control of materials or building or construction industry experience, which includes reading and interpreting blueprints, plans, or schematics; or
• One year of construction inspection experience, and an associates degree in civil engineering, mechanical engineering, geotechnical engineering, surveying engineering technology, or a closely related engineering technology; or
• An equivalent combination of experience and training.

Special Requirement:

• This position requires possession of an active non-commercial Pennsylvania Class C Drivers License or equivalent.
