Stair Builder Assistant

About the Job

G&T Wood Products is hiring a Stair Builder’s Assistant for our warehouse in Odenton, MD. This is a hands-on position ideal for someone with basic carpentry or construction experience who is looking to grow into a skilled trade.

This is a career-track position — ideal candidates will train to become full Stair Builders within the company.

Key Responsibilities

• Assist in the assembly of custom staircases in our warehouse.

• Measure, cut, and prepare wood materials (treads, rails, balusters).

• Use tools such as miter saws, drills, nail guns, and clamps.

• Follow blueprints or diagrams to align and attach parts.

• Move and stage large stair components; help load trucks for delivery.

• Keep workstations and tools organized and clean.

• Support warehouse operations when stair assembly is light (e.g., organizing, cleaning, minor repairs).

Qualifications

Required:

• Able to use a tape measure accurately and read measurements.

• Comfortable with physical work: lifting, carrying, bending, and standing.

• Willingness to learn and follow detailed instructions.

• Dependable attendance and work ethic.

Preferred:

• Experience with construction, carpentry, woodworking, or warehouse labor.

• Familiarity with saws, drills, or hand tools.

• Experience with forklifts, pallet jacks, or staining wood (bonus but not required).

Schedule and Pay

• Full-time: Monday to Friday

• Day shift (approx. 7:30 am–4:00 pm)

• Pay: $22–$25/hour, depending on experience

• Opportunities for raises and promotion based on performance
