Construction Manager
The Construction Manager is responsible for overseeing construction contractor activities for underground transmission projects in Connecticut or Massachusetts. This role ensures that all work is performed in accordance with project plans, specifications, codes, environmental regulations, and safety standards. The Construction Manager will be assigned to transmission line and/or substation construction projects within a designated geographic area and will collaborate closely with teams in Transmission Project Management, Environmental Permitting, Siting, Local Control Centers, and Outreach Services.
Key Responsibilities
Manage medium to highplexity projects, including underground transmission line rebuilds, trenchless crossings, work in major metropolitan areas, and traffic management plans.
Oversee substation expansion projects and other system enhancements.
Ensure contractorpliance with federal, state, local, and Eversource environmental and safety regulations and policies.
Enforce adherence to Eversource standards and procedures.
Supervise contract field construction and maintenance activities at transmission and distribution facilities, ensuring alignment with project documents, engineering practices, and industry standards.
Notify the Project Manager and project team of any deviations in safety, environmentalpliance, schedule, design, materials, budget, ormissioning plans.
Review project designs and construction documents for constructability and schedule feasibility.
Monitor material requirements and coordinate timely delivery to construction sites.
Attend, participate in, and potentially lead project meetings.
Conduct on-site construction briefings and prepare reports on project status, schedules, and risks.
Coordinate and oversee contractor activities.
Develop or reviewmissioning plans, outage requests, and perform switching operations to support construction and storm restoration efforts.
Conduct contractor evaluations and manage project closeout activities.
Maintain professionalmunication with customers as needed during project execution.
Be available for extended hours during critical construction phases.
Provide substation escort services for non-qualified individuals.
Qualifications
Strong knowledge of in-street and underground construction methods; familiarity with trenchless crossing techniques is a plus.
OSHA training and certification.
Understanding of applicable safety regulations, construction codes, and standards.
Knowledge of energy delivery and power systems.
Ability to learn and effectively use available information technologies.
Must be 18 years of age or older.
Valid Driver's License Required.
