Title: Communications and Development Manager

Reports to: Director of Evangelization and Director of Finance

FLSA: Exempt, Full time

Location: Sacred Heart of Jesus, Our Lady of Fatima, and St. Anne Parish Family

Position Summary:

The ideal candidate for this position would be engaged in their Catholic faith and looking to draw others in through their ministry in communications and development. This person exhibits the qualities of an ideal team player: is collaborative and mission focused; has a growth mindset and takes initiative and identifies solutions independently; builds relationships to align parishioners and community with parish goals. This person would also have a developed faith, demonstrate active participation in the Catholic faith, and spiritual leadership in their day-to-day life. This role is for the person who demonstrates attention to detail, calendar coordination, and deadline management.

This role is a unique opportunity to bring media, communications, and evangelization together, while also working with people to foster a deeper spirituality of stewardship within the parish family.

Key Responsibilities:

Communications (60%)

  • Collaborates with staff on external communications strategies; develops and maintains an editorial calendar.
  • Responsible for promoting and implementing best practices for internal communications among the staff.
  • Lead parish family wide communications and ensure consistency of messaging and branding across all three parishes.
  • Oversight of external weekly communications including emails, newsletter, bulletin, social media, physical on-site postings, etc.
  • Promotes Parish Family initiatives including events, activities, outreach, liturgical seasons. This is done through email marketing, campaigns, printed materials, social media, etc. This includes taking photos and videos for marketing and communication materials.
  • Develops and maintains parish family website, working with the Parish Leadership Team and ministry leaders to ensure the accuracy and effectiveness of the website.
  • Manages the Parish Family internal calendar, working with clergy and staff to ensure accuracy on a week-to-week basis.
  • Acts as the main point of contact for communication needs between parish and schools, and for external groups seeking to communicate through the parish.
  • Project manages the Parish Annual Reports which include providing information to the Archdiocese of Seattle as well as to the parishes.
  • Act as a ghostwriter for various ministries and people, as needed.
  • Oversight of mass announcements, prayers of the faithful, and the mass intention request process.

Development (30%)

  • Lead all development initiatives that cultivate a culture of stewardship, generosity, and mission support across the parish family.
  • Responsible for running all campaigns including Stewardship of Treasure, Annual Catholic Appeal, and #iGiveCatholic
  • Manages all capital campaign project prospecting, soliciting, training volunteers, overseeing databases, tracking and reporting results and monitoring clean-up.
  • Coordinate with the Director of Finance to manage donor records, gift tracking, timely donor acknowledgments, prepare stewardship reports and donor communications that demonstrate impact and invite continued support.

Other duties (10%)

  • During this time of Partners in the Gospel there are additional responsibilities that will arise.

Qualifications

Qualifications and Education:

  • Practicing, prayerful, registered Catholic.
  • Bachelor's degree in communications, marketing, public relations, nonprofit leadership, or a related field.
  • Awareness of marketing and communication trends; experience with surveys; globally minded approach (preferred).
  • Minimum of 2 years of relevant experience in communications, marketing, development, or stewardship, ideally in a Catholic or nonprofit setting.
  • Proficient in Microsoft 365, digital platforms, social media management, email marketing, website content management systems, and graphic design tools.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong organizational, strategic thinking, and project management abilities.
  • Collaborative and mission-driven, with the ability to work across parish teams and adapt to the needs of a changing pastoral landscape.
  • Familiarity with donor and customer database systems; ParishStaq a plus

Working Conditions:

  • This position requires regular presence across the three parish campuses and occasional evening or weekend hours for parish events or meetings.
  • Ability to travel locally and attend meetings at the Archdiocese when needed.

Any offered salary is determined based on internal equity, internal salary ranges, market data, applicant's skills and prior relevant experience, certain degrees and certifications.
