We are currently recruiting for a Maintenance/Construction Supervisor I to function as a Heating Plant Supervisor at Central Regional Hospital (CRH) in the Department of Plant Operations.
The primary purpose of this position is to supervise the daily operation, maintenance, and repairs of the CRH Annex Steam Plant, two Hot Water Boiler plants, and domestic hot water equipment and production at two campuses. Position will also be active with the Plumbing Department including serving as a lead when the Plumbing Supervisor is absent.
Job duties include but are not limited to:
Plan, supervisor and direct the operations of the three Heating Plants at Central Regional Hospital Bunter Campuses.
Maintain and monitor domestic water heaters on both campuses.
Ensure that PM tasks are completed and documented as required.
Oversees the submittals of chemical test data to Contracted Chemical Company periodically.
Order chemicals, materials, replacement parts, and supplies for Boiler Room use.
Oversees the performance of maintenance as needed on all automatic controls on the boilers.
Subject to on-call and emergency call back.
Make recommendations on new equipment or alterations to boilers.
Submit energy and boiler efficiency reports monthly.
Contact and work with vendors and suppliers to find parts or determine replacement scenarios for those parts or systems.
Assists the Plumbing Department as needed and acts as a lead when the Plumbing Supervisor is absent.
The normal work hours for this position are 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Monday - Friday however flexibility is required to meet hospital needs. This is a full-time position and eligible for the full State benefits package including health insurance and retirement. This position is designated Mandatory and must report or stay over during adverse weather.

- Knowledge of steam and hot water generating systems.
- Ability to follow oral and written instructions.
- Ability to wear protective equipment needed for the job and work in narrow aisles or passageways including confined spaces.
- Ability to climb, push, pull, stand, talk, hear, walk, reach, grasp, kneel, feel, balance, stoop, lift, finger, crawl, crouching, bend & repetitive motions.
- Ability to use the following equipment saws, drill presses, hand drills, pipe wrenches, pipe cutter, hammers, shovels, all basic hand tools, torch, amp meter & gauges.
- Ability to do heavy work - exerting up to 100 lbs. of force occasionally and/or in excess of 50lb. or + of force frequently.
- Ability to work in extreme heat in temperature up to 100 degrees for long periods of time.
- Ability to work in extreme cold in temperature below 32 degrees for long periods of time.
- Ability to operate the following equipment & state vehicles including pick-up trucks, truck lift, vans, & boilers.
- Visual skills are needed to read gauges and other job-related functions.
- Knowledge of Building Automations Systems.
- Working knowledge of the principles and techniques involved in operation and maintenance of steam and hot water plants.
- Skilled in the principals, use of tools and equipment for mechanical maintenance.
- Ability to perform work independently.
- Ability to supervisor the work of subordinate maintenance personnel.
- Valid NC drivers' license is required.

High school or General Educational Development (GED) diploma and three (3) years of progressive experience in facility maintenance or construction including journey level experience in at least three (3) building or mechanical trades;
or
an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Necessary Special Qualifications May require current certification by the EPA as a Type I, II, III or Universal technician as required by 40 CFR part 82, subpart F.
Degrees must be from appropriately accredited colleges or universities.
