The Senior Estimator is responsible for preparing accurate and detailed cost estimates for construction projects, ensuring that bids are competitive and align with the company's financial goals. This role requires a deep understanding of construction methods, materials, and market conditions, as well as the ability to lead a team of estimators, collaborate with various departments, and maintain strong relationships with clients, suppliers, and subcontractors. Key Responsibilities: Estimate Preparation: Develop comprehensive and accurate cost estimates for a variety of construction projects, including residential, commercial, industrial, and infrastructure developments. Analyze project plans, specifications, and other documentation to prepare time, cost, materials, and labor estimates. Identify potential cost-saving opportunities, risks, and project complexities. Work closely with project managers, engineers, and architects to clarify scope and ensure all project requirements are included in the estimates. Bid Management: Lead the preparation and submission of competitive bids and proposals. Review and evaluate subcontractor and supplier bids, ensuring alignment with project requirements and budget. Prepare bid comparison sheets and recommend the best options based on cost, quality, and reliability. Team Leadership and Mentoring: Supervise and mentor junior estimators, providing guidance and support in their professional development. Delegate tasks effectively, ensuring that the estimating team meets deadlines and maintains high standards of accuracy. Market Research and Analysis: Stay informed about current market trends, material costs, and labor rates. Conduct site visits and attend pre-bid meetings to gather information necessary for accurate estimates. Maintain and update a database of historical data, unit costs, and productivity rates for future reference. Client and Stakeholder Relations: Communicate with clients, architects, engineers, and other stakeholders to resolve any discrepancies and clarify project scope. Build and maintain strong relationships with subcontractors, suppliers, and industry partners. Present estimates and bid proposals to clients and negotiate terms as needed. Process Improvement: Continuously evaluate and improve estimating processes and tools to enhance efficiency and accuracy. Implement best practices in estimating and cost control Qualifications: 5-10 years of relevant experience Commercial construction experience required
