High School diploma or GED and five (5) years of appropriate experience in maintenance and repair of electrical systems in large commercial, industrial or institutional facilities.
Requires a valid driver's license.

Special Conditions
The department is especially interested in candidates with completion of IBEW, IEC (Independent Electrical Contractors), or nationally recognized apprenticeship.
Work Schedule
Monday - Friday
7:30 a.m. - 3:30 p.m.
May need to work/travel beyond normal work schedule.
Must be able to respond to after normal hours emergencies.

Working Conditions
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to use hands to handle, or feel. The employee frequently is required to stand; walk; sit; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, or crouch; and talk or hear. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds, occasionally lift and/or move up to 75 pounds and push or pull up to 250 pounds with appropriate tools or moving equipment. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, and color vision. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to dangerous working conditions and occasionally exposed to wet and humid conditions, fumes and airborne particles, close spaces and is required to climb ladders to access equipment in high and/or precarious places. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.

Duties & Responsibilities
Acts as senior advisor to Sr. Manager of Facilities, electrical engineer, shop personnel and Physical Plant Administration; assists Sr. Manager of Facilities as needed to provide training to personnel.
Duties & Responsibilities
Coordinates the activities of electrical contractors performing work on campus; inspects and approves electrical contractors' work; ensures that contractor and in-house work complies with applicable codes and Physical Plant and University policies.
Duties & Responsibilities
Inspects, test, services, and repairs, emergency electrical generators and elevators as necessary.

Performs preventive maintenance on equipment.

Plans and estimates electrical projects for review by electrical engineer.

Troubleshoots electrical systems to locate and correct problems; installs and connects new systems including wiring, conduit, fuses, control systems, etc.
