About this Position: The Community Water Systems Supervisor is primarily responsible for the supervision, planning, coordination, and monitoring of the daily operations of the personnel assigned to work in the North Country division, in addition to selected owned remote community water systems and the contract operated water systems for Pennichuck Water Service Company. This is a fully on-site position, spending half the time reporting into the water treatment facility in Nashua, NH and the other half of the time reporting into the North Country treatment facility in Pittsfield, NH.
Job Responsibilities:
Supervisory Functions
- Supervise North Country Foreman and Water Operators, as they perform day to day operations and ensure efficiency and safety in work practices.
- Plan and organize daily maintenance and operating tasks performed by department staff relative to RCWS operations.
- Create weekly and monthly work schedules for staff completing work in RCWS, in accordance with best management practices and regulatory requirements.
- Oversee and monitor the training of assigned staff in the safe, efficient and compliant operation and maintenance of the water supply facilities
- In coordination with the Water Supply Manager, the RCWS is responsible for the planning and coordination of training for union staff.
- Ensure union employees are working in conditions in accordance with the collective bargaining agreement.
Operations Functions
- Create workflows, routes, and schedules to optimize the inspection and maintenance of water supply facilities and distribution system.
- Create, update and maintain asset records for company owned RCWS utilizing the Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS), Geographic Information System (GIS), and other technology.
- Create, update and maintain, standard operating procedures and routine maintenance tasks organized utilizing the CMMS.
- Review daily, the data collected in the field gathered on routes and immediately address exceptions.
- Periodically review SCADA information.
- Interact with Water Quality Staff to ensure compliance with state and federal agencies.
- Coordinate with laboratory staff to schedule the efficient collection of compliance and non-compliance water quality samples.
- Coordinate with laboratory staff in the maintenance and optimization of treatment systems.
- Create and update standard operating practices related to safety, equipment, and other operational tasks.
- Be available outside of normal working hours for emergency response and be available to respond to shift operators and duty personnel requests.
- Review daily, the data collected in the field gathered on RCWS routes and immediately address exceptions.
- Perform along with NHDES representative, periodic Sanitary Surveys in all company owned RCWS.
- Under the supervision of the Water Supply Manager, assist in the direction of outside contractors in the performance of maintenance tasks that fall beyond the scope of work performed by union staff.
- Perform all other functions necessary to supervise the safe, efficient, and compliant operation of the water supply facilities.
- Participate in the off hours Duty Supervisor rotating schedule.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Education: Associate degree in science or business-related field or equivalent years in experience.
Certifications and Licenses
- Minimum of a level 2 NH treatment license required.
- Must have ability to attain level 2 NH treatment license within 12 months of hire.
- Level 1 NH Distribution License within 24 months of hire.
- OSHA 10 Certification.
Experience:
- 3 to 5 years of experience in water treatment and supply operations.
- Professional experience working in water treatment operations.
