Your Role at BSI
Our Electrical Engineering team has many years of experience designing power distribution systems for clients in many different industries. Our Electrical Engineers work closely with our full-service team to ensure a fully integrated design package of the highest quality is provided. They assess client needs and create designs that ensure Code compliance and personnel safety, while achieving the client's desired goals. Project scopes will range from full facility and process designs for greenfield projects to retrofits and upgrades of equipment in existing sites.
Responsibilities and Scope
Independently develops and writes discipline scope, deliverables, assumptions, and estimates budget for proposals for projects of all sizes
Self-performs and mentors others in the use of design criteria document(s) to meet the project objectives
Ensures quality and technical accuracy of their own project deliverables including calculations and design effort to prepare deliverables, and supports and reviews the work of others
Ensures discipline's design is accurate and coordinated within the 2D drawings and/or 3D model and/or site scans
Ensure the electrical team members on their projects meet the discipline's engineering schedule and budget objectives on assigned projects
Provides clear direction to designers and other engineers of project scope, schedule, budget and expectations of quality for assigned projects
Leads capital cost estimating by gathering equipment quotations and populating MTO's on their own, and by delegating and supervising this work completed by team members
Self performs design of low voltage (600 and below) power distribution systems and mentors others. Able to self-perform or facilitate the design of medium voltage systems.
Self-perform short circuit/arc flash/coordination and load studies, or facilitate the completion of this work by others
Self-perform the design of MCCs, including single lines and layout of MCCs and train others in this skill.
Self-perform the design of cable tray and conduit systems and the specification of low voltage distribution equipment and mentor others in this skillset.
Oversee the design of electrical heat tracing and lighting systems
Participates in construction support, startup and commissioning efforts
Interfaces with other design discipline counterparts and project management as needed
Interfaces with client on a regular basis and develops and maintains client relationships
Leads discipline in multi-discipline squad checks of deliverables before issuance
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor's degree or higher in an engineering discipline required
PE strongly preferred
10+ years of electrical design experience
Consulting experience preferred
Exposed to EasyPower and or SKM software
Experience with load studies required
Understanding of the National Electrical Code
Industrial distribution experience required
Ability to specify equipment including MCCs
Field exposure to various manufacturing, industrial, commercial, or institutional environments
