Wastewater Operator Job Description As a Wastewater Operator, you will be responsible for operating and maintaining water and wastewater treatment, processing, disposal, and testing equipment to purify water in compliance with permit and operational requirements. Your role will involve tending to automatic and semi-automatic machines and related equipment, including pumps, generators, valves, gates, mixers, conveyors, blowers, chemical feed, and odor control and vacuum filters, to decontaminate wastewater through settling, aeration, and sludge digestion. Responsibilities Monitor control panels and adjust valves and gates manually or by remote control to regulate flow. Monitor flow meters, gauges, flow ratios, pressures, and related controls through instrument panels, computer terminals, and programmable logic control units. Monitor and record operating conditions, observations, and data in area shift log. Ensure conformance to process specifications and diagnose basic operational problems, taking corrective action as per procedure. Verify and report suspected malfunctions and variances to supervisor and take corrective actions. Sample wastewater, sludge, and gases according to schedule. Prepare chemical solutions and service automatic samplers. Monitor process chemical supplies and recommend reorder. Essential Skills Experience with hazardous material handling, hazwhopper, wastewater treatment, water treatment, and machine operation. Knowledge of electrical and mechanical systems. Must have a Water Treatment license grade 2 and above. Ability to lift 50 lbs on a repeated basis. Additional Skills & Qualifications Must have a High School Diploma or GED. Ideal candidate will have 3-5 years of wastewater treatment experience. Why Work Here? Work Environment This role involves working both inside and outside of facilities where noise levels may be moderate, especially indoors. You will need to travel between sites in Canby and Wilsonville. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $24.00 - $32.00/hr.
