Job Title: Structural Engineer
Job Description
We are seeking a Structural Engineer with experience in the practice of engineering within an industrial or chemical plant environment. The role involves evaluating existing structures, designing modifications to current facilities, supporting piping, and lifting and rigging industrial equipment. You will analyze existing structures to determine if they can accommodate unanticipated loads and assist in designing rigging plans for equipment. You will collaborate with drafting and design teams for plan execution and work as part of a project team.
Responsibilities
- Evaluate existing structures for potential modifications.
- Design modifications to existing facilities.
- Support piping and industrial equipment lifting and rigging.
- Analyze existing structures to assess additional load capacity.
- Develop rigging plans for equipment.
- Collaborate with drafting and design teams to finalize plans.
- Participate as a member of a project team.
- Optimize design opportunities including boiler design and equipment supports.
Essential Skills
- Structural engineering expertise.
- Experience in structural design and structural steel.
- Proficiency in documentation control.
- Knowledge of structural concrete and seismic design.
- Competence with MathCAD, STAAD Pro, and AutoCAD.
- Familiarity with Microsoft Office Suite and Adobe Acrobat Pro.
- Understanding of design codes such as AISC and ACI.
- 5+ years of experience in designing steel, reinforced concrete, and masonry structures.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Familiarity with gas diffusion and natural gas systems.
- Experience in power plant engineering, petrochemical, oil, and gas industries.
- Capability to obtain a DOE security clearance.
Work Environment
The role requires working onsite at an industrial plant with a weekly schedule from Monday to Thursday, 6:00 am to 4:30 pm. You will be part of a team comprising three strong DOE contractors, tasked with addressing unique challenges of the Paducah Gaseous Diffusion Plant Deactivation and Remediation project. The position involves dealing with technical solutions in a dynamic and collaborative environment.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $45.00 - $70.00/hr.
