job summary:
A Mechanical Design Engineer is needed for a major U.S. defense contractor and industrial corporation with core manufacturing concentrations in weapons and military and commercial electronics in the Burnsville, MN area. This role designs, documents, and supports mechanical test systems and components for aerospace applications, collaborating with cross-functional teams to develop and troubleshoot advanced electro-mechanical solutions.

salary: $33 - 40 per hour
work hours: 8am to 5pm
education: Bachelors
responsibilities:
Design and document mechanical components and test fixtures for aerospace test systems.
Support new product development and process improvements at the Burnsville, MN site.
Perform mechanical design and analysis to meet system requirements.
Work with electro-mechanical sensing and pressurized systems.
Reverse engineer existing components and systems.
Create and release documentation, drawings, and models.
Prototype, test, and verify mechanical designs.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams (mechanical, electrical, software, and systems engineers).
Plan and manage tasks independently and effectively.
Skills:
SolidWorks, NX Designer, AutoCAD (or similar CAD tools).
Mechanical engineering design, analysis, and documentation.
3D printing and prototype fabrication.
GD&T and drafting standards.
Experience with CNC, welding, sheet metal, and additive manufacturing.
Familiarity with test fixture design, cabling, and interconnects.
Education and Experience:
Bachelor's degree in STEM + 3 years relevant experience or
1 year with Master's / 7 years without a degree).
Experience working with multidisciplinary engineering teams.
