HVAC Service Technician

JOB REQUIREMENTS: Full time HVAC position includes working withcommercial and residential customers on job sites. Install, service, orrepair heating and air conditioning systems in residences or commercialestablishments. At assigned customer locations perform heating,ventilation and air conditioning cleaning service and repair services asrequired. Reclaim, install, and recycle CFC and HCFC refrigerants. (mustbe EPA Certified for Refrigerant). Troubleshoot and repair HVAC unitsincluding electronic and mechanical components. Provide prompt andprofessional service to all customers. Install or repair electricalconnections to HVAC components. Comply with all applicable standards,policies, or procedures, such as safety procedures or the maintenance ofa clean work area. Install and test automatic, programmable, or wirelessthermostats in residential or commercial buildings to minimize energyusage for heating or cooling. Test pipe or tubing joints or connectionsfor leaks, using pressure gauge or soap-and-water solution. Inspect andtest systems to verify system compliance with plans and specificationsor to detect and locate malfunctions. Connect heating or airconditioning equipment to fuel, water, or refrigerant source to formcomplete circuit. Assemble, position, and mount heating or coolingequipment, following blueprints or manufacturer\'s specifications.Adjust system controls to settings recommended by manufacturer tobalance system. Install radiator controls for room-level zone controlheating of residential or commercial buildings. Repair or serviceheating, ventilating, and air conditioning (HVAC) systems to improveefficiency, such as by changing filters, cleaning ducts, or refillingnon-toxic refrigerants. Wrap pipes, securing insulation in place withcement or wire bands. Install, connect, or adjust thermostats,humidistats, or timers. Lay out and connect electrical wiring betweencontrols and equipment, according to wiring diagrams, usingelectrician\'s hand tools. Recommend, develop, or perform preventive orgeneral maintenance procedures, such as cleaning, power-washing, orvacuuming equipment, oiling parts, or changing filters. Record andreport time, materials, faults, deficiencies, or other unusualoccurrences on work orders. Repair or replace defective equipment,components, or wiring. Test electrical circuits or components forcontinuity, using electrical test equipment. Cut or drill holes infloors, walls, or roof to install equipment, using power saws or drills.Discuss heating or cooling system malfunctions with users to isolateproblems or to verify that repairs corrected malfunctions. Installauxiliary components to heating or cooling equipment, such as expansionor discharge valves, air ducts, pipes, blowers, dampers, flues, orstokers. Install dehumidifiers or related equipment for spaces thatrequire cool, dry air to operate efficiently, such as computer rooms.Braze or solder parts to repair defective joints and leaks. Repair orservice heating, ventilating, and air conditioning (HVAC) systems toimprove efficiency, such as by changing filters, cleaning ducts, andrefilling non-toxic refrigerants.
