Position Overview \nThompson Engineering is seeking a Structural Engineer to join our team in Mobile, Alabama . This role involves leading and coordinating structural engineering projects that significantly impact organizational programs. This is an excellent opportunity for a highly experienced engineer to play a pivotal role in shaping critical infrastructure projects across the Southeast. \n\nKey Responsibilities \n\n\nEnsure all engineering work meets established technical standards and adheres to best practices. \n \n\nLead and coordinate preliminary design studies , project layouts, and comprehensive planning activities. \n \n\nCollaborate with clients, engineers, architects, and vendors to develop practical and cost-effective design solutions. \n \n\nDevelop detailed design criteria , select appropriate materials, and specify equipment in line with engineering standards. \n \n\nPrepare and manage accurate estimates, construction drawings, specifications, and resource plans. \n \n\nConduct and review detailed engineering designs, ensuring compliance with codes, regulations, and client requirements . \n \n\nLead, supervise, and check the work of team members including engineers, designers, drafters, and technicians. \n \n\nCoordinate effectively with other departments such as purchasing, estimating, and project management. \n \n\nManage project schedules, budgets, and personnel to deliver work on time and within scope. \n \n\nAct as Engineer of Record for structural engineering projects. \n \n\nSupport business development by marketing services to current and potential clients, contributing to proposals, and maintaining updated professional profiles. \n \n\nPromote and follow company safety and quality standards . \n \n\nServe as the lead structural engineer on multi-disciplinary projects. \n \n\nMaintain reliable and consistent attendance. \n \n \n\nQualifications \n\n\nEducation: \n\n\nBachelor's degree in Engineering from an accredited institution. \n \n\nNote: Candidates who have passed the PE registration exam may be exempt from the degree requirement. \n \n \n \n\nLicensure: \n\n\nRegistered Professional Engineer (PE) required. \n \n\nStructural Engineer (SE) license is a plus. \n \n \n \n\nExperience: \n\n\nMinimum of 10+ years of relevant structural engineering experience. \n \n \n \n\nSkills: \n\n\nDemonstrated ability to manage large-scale engineering projects. \n \n\nStrong written and verbal communication skills. \n \n \n \n \n\nPhysical Requirements \n\n\nWillingness to work flexible hours and overtime as needed. \n \n\nAbility to sit for extended periods and operate a computer. \n \n \n\nAbout Thompson Engineering \nFounded in 1953 , Thompson Engineering began as a provider of construction quality assurance , including materials testing, inspection services, and laboratory analysis for industrial and infrastructure projects.
