This Opportunity

WSP USA is initiating a search for a Full-time Senior Commissioning Electrical Engineer for our New York office.

Plans and conducts work requiring judgment regarding the independent evaluation, selection and substantial adaptation and modification of standard techniques, procedures, and criteria. Successfully completes all size projects by organizing and controlling project elements. Provides leadership and technical guidance to project managers and field engineers.

Your Impact

  • Prepare commissioning deliverables and products including calculations, drawings, reports, and specifications.
  • Evaluate fundamental engineering guidelines, code compliance requirements and industry standards.
  • Examine field conditions as required to support development and completion of projects.
  • Lead the preparation of commissioning specifications and basis of design documents during design and submittal reviews.
  • Develop proposals and responses to RFPs for commissioning projects.
  • Develop documentation and procedures related to commissioning activities for each project.
  • Attend meetings with owners, building managers, and all relative stakeholders to discuss future and or current projects.
  • Responsible for meeting the client's project and financial goals and objectives.
  • Represent the company in a professional manner in all dealings with owners, vendors, other design professionals and contractors.
  • Take a senior role in the firm's human resource efforts through training and mentoring junior firm members of the commissioning team.
  • Continuous growth in job knowledge and technical expertise by participating in educational opportunities, reading professional publications, participating in technical organizations, obtaining certifications in area of expertise, and participating in the firm's Technical Committee as requested.
  • Able to manage commissioning projects both technically and financially.
  • Interstate travel is periodically required.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Who You Are

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering or closely related discipline.
  • 10+ years of relevant post education experience in discipline with prior building and systems commissioning experience.
  • Working knowledge of MEP building systems, electrical systems and testing, electrical testing equipment and electrical commissioning requirements.
  • Proficient in 480-Volt electrical systems, operating electrical testing equipment such as power quality meters, circuit

breaker test sets, contact/insulation resistance meters and infrared cameras.

  • Experience with 5kV -26kV systems and protection relays is preferred.
  • Experience with witnessing and executing pre-functional, functional and integrated electrical testing.
  • Knowledge of NETA electrical testing.
  • Experience with Short Circuit/Coordination/ Arc Flash Studies.
  • Proficiency in SKM, EZ Power and/or E-Tap Arc Flash Analysis software or similar is preferred but not required.
  • Good understanding of the architectural, engineering and construction industry.
  • Experience with sustainable design practices or facilities operations is preferred.
  • Possess clear and concise verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and provide supervision in a highly collaborative team environment.
  • Proficient in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook).
  • Experience with Deltek Vision or Project Resource Management software is preferred.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • PE license is preferred, but not required.
  • Certifications in areas of expertise are preferred.
  • Certified Commissioning Professional (CCP) or equivalent certification preferred but not required.

Compensation:

Expected Salary (all locations): $133,000 - $181,000

WSP USA is providing the compensation range that the company in good faith believes it might pay and offer for this position, based on the successful applicant's education, experience, knowledge, skills, abilities in addition to internal equity and specific geographic location. WSP USA reserves the right to ultimately pay more or less than the posted range and offer additional benefits and other compensation, depending on circumstances not related to an applicant's sex or other status protected by local, state, and/or federal law.
