Maintenance Mechanic Type: Contract To Hire Location: Norristown, PA Schedule: Monday-Friday, 12:00 PM - 8:00 PM (training on first shift: 8:00 AM - 4:00 PM) Compensation: $30 - $32 hourly Start: Immediate Overview: The Maintenance Mechanic supports the Plant Operations team by performing preventative maintenance, troubleshooting, and repairs on manufacturing, processing, and packaging equipment. The role is critical to ensuring production uptime and includes both hands-on mechanical work and cross-functional collaboration with engineering and production teams. Responsibilities: + Preventative & Corrective Maintenance: Perform scheduled maintenance on industrial processing and packaging machinery. + Identify, troubleshoot, and repair faulty mechanical and electrical systems + Read and interpret machine schematics, electrical diagrams, and technical manuals + Production & Equipment Support: Partner with production staff to keep equipment in operational condition + Monitor and maintain manufacturing equipment to support company output + Recommend repair parts, tools, or outside services to management + Tools & Technical Knowledge: Safely operate hoists, forklifts, and power tools + Use voltmeters, calipers, and other measuring instruments for diagnostics + Understand and apply LOTO (lockout/tagout) procedures and OSHA safety practices + Facility Safety & Compliance: Maintain a clean, hazard-free work environment + Follow company procedures and safety standards, including OSHA protocols + Assist with facility-related mechanical systems (plumbing, pneumatic, hydraulic) + Support continuous improvement efforts in safety, efficiency, and production quality + Perform other duties as assigned by the Plant Operations Director or Manager Requirements: + Minimum 1 year of industrial maintenance experience (manufacturing, food, pharma, etc.) + High school diploma or GED required; technical/trade school a plus + Familiarity with CMMS and maintenance documentation systems + Working knowledge of pneumatic, electrical, and hydraulic systems + Proficient with hand tools and general mechanical diagnostics + Strong communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills + Must be able to lift up to 60 lbs. to shoulder height + Comfortable performing physical tasks including climbing, kneeling, bending, and reaching + Exposure to mechanical hazards, vibrations, slippery surfaces, and occasional fumes #M3 Ref: #558-Scientific System One, and its subsidiaries including Joule, ALTA IT Services, CM Access, TPGS, and MOUNTAIN, LTD., are leaders in delivering workforce solutions and integrated services across North America.
