Role and Responsibilities As a survey technician with my client, you're a key part of the foundational stage of our construction projects. Your expertise in data collection and analysis directly supports the planning and execution phases, ensuring projects meet design specifications and achieve project goals. Your responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following, as other duties may be assigned: Conduct field surveys and collect data on land characteristics, including topography, elevation, and boundaries. Operate survey equipment such as GPS, total stations, and levels to gather accurate measurements. Analyze survey data and create detailed maps, reports, and diagrams. Collaborate with internal and external project stakeholders to provide essential survey data for project planning and execution. Verify the accuracy of survey data, including measurements and calculations conducted at survey sites. Maintain and calibrate survey equipment to ensure optimal performance and accuracy. Work in collaboration with other members of the survey team, taking direction from the survey manager and instructing and assisting team members but working independently as needed. Requirements You're ready to contribute to the work and culture of a leading and growing construction company, in that: A high school or equivalent degree is required. An associate's or bachelor's degree in Surveying, Geomatics, Civil Engineering, or a related field is a plus. Certification or licensure in land surveying is a plus. You have experience as a survey technician or similar role. Knowledge of surveying software and tools such as AutoCAD and GIS and equipment such as GPS, total stations, and levels is a plus. You have strong mathematical and analytical skills. You have or can obtain the OSHA 10-hour certification (a copy of your card is required). First aid/CPR certification is a plus. You have a valid driver's license and clean driving record. You can lift at least 50 pounds, can use a five-pound hammer for periods of time, can walk up to five miles per shift, and work in various weather conditions. You have a working knowledge of construction activities and processes, safety regulations and requirements, and operating various types of construction equipment, as well as the ability to read and comprehend plans and specifications. You're proficient with a computer and applicable software programs and know the Microsoft Office suite and Procore. You're a people person and can build relationships with a variety of people including coworkers, vendors, field staff and others. You're self-motivated and proactive, with a willingness and drive to learn. You're organized, with strong attention to detail and excellent time management skills, allowing you to accomplish tasks accurately and on time with minimal direct supervision.
