## Position Summary

The Heavy Equipment Operator is responsible for controlling heavy
machinery to move materials and products around a worksite.
Safely and efficiently transport products based on necessary workflows.
Track inventory, inspect the product before and after shipping to
identify imperfections or damage, move heavy materials around compost
yard, stack product, and count inventory in stock to fill orders.
Operate different heavy machinery such as front-end loaders, pre-wet
turners, rick turners, bunker fillers, and counterbalance forklifts
depending on the tasks they need to complete the job.

## Essential Job Functions

This position is responsible for all of the following:
- Identifies and transports the product to and from various locations,
including loading docks, trucks, storage, and work areas
- Obtains production schedule and shipping orders to identifies,
verifies, and transports requested raw materials, equipment, or
processing workflow accordingly
- Applies understanding of machine loading capacity and loading
schedule, ensuring prompt and efficient delivery of required items
- Uses protective materials and strapping equipment to protect and
secure loads; once delivered, removes strapping and wrapping, then
safely disposes of waste materials in designated containers or areas
- Reports any problems with equipment and product to supervisor
- Services equipment as needed, reporting mechanical or electrical
difficulties to Maintenance
- Maintains records about products and supplies being moved
- Communicates with Supervisor and/or Manager quantities and products
being moved
- Performs other related duties as requested
- Following Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) on the safe handling
and proper use of machines and tools used for the operations
- Adherence to Good Agricultural Practices (GAPs) for food processing
- Adherence to Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs) for food processing
- Accurate completion of daily logs and reports according to the SOP
