Mears is looking for Operators support their Kansas City, MO jobsite. In this role, you'll join field crews to safely install and replace underground utilities on pipeline projects. The position involves outdoor work, operating various construction equipment, and assisting craft workers with their assigned

Essential Duties:

  • Operation of heavy equipment including excavators, track hoes, backhoes, front end loaders and skidsteers to excavate or move dirt, rock and other materials
  • Prepare and maintain equipment for safe daily operations
  • Perform safe and clean trench excavation and backfill
  • Set and pull shield shoring in accordance to OSHA safe practices
  • Move and drive tractor trailers or truck and trailer combinations
  • Uphold all Mears Safety Requirements and wear appropriate PPE as needed
  • Comply with operating safety rules and regulations per OSHA safe practices
  • Prepare documents, reports, or job aids related to work, equipment, and safety
  • Load and unload company vehicles
  • Prepare pre-trip equipment prior to mobilizing to job site
  • Assist in securing work site and equipment at the end of each shift
  • Perform miscellaneous duties assigned

Key Qualifications

  • Valid driver license required, CDL preferred

  • DOT Medical Card (if operating company equipment)

  • High school Diploma or equivalent

  • The physical activity for this role includes:

  • Standing, walking, for extended periods

  • Repeatedly lifting up to 50 pounds

  • Repeatedly kneeling, crawling, climbing and reaching

  • Exposure to loud work environments

  • Work outdoors in a range of conditions, including hot and cold weather.

  • Travel as needed to job sites

  • Move about, in, and around construction vehicles

  • Pass Pre-Employment drug screen and background check
