Maintenance Supervisor

Calhoun Falls State Park sits along several pine-covered points extending out into sparsely-developed Lake Russell . The Calhoun Falls campground is one of the most coveted in the park system, with spacious RV and tent sites complete with forested, shoreline views of the lake. Day-use activities include a short, easy nature trail, tennis court, seasonal swimming and fishing. The park also attracts various events year round, including fishing tournaments and the popular South Carolina Campground Cookoff.

Job Purpose and Duties:
Assists Park Manager and with the overall maintenance activities of Cheraw State Park to include upkeep and maintenance of grounds and facilities and the scheduling and supervision of assigned staff.
1) Supervises assigned employees involved in maintenance projects through proper training, guidance, scheduling work and completing performance evaluations.
2) Following established procedures and guidelines, coordinates maintenance activities related to park grounds as well as maintaining a safe work environment. Ensures assignments are completed and staff performance is monitored daily. Participates in planning specialized work projects and the completion of these projects in a timely fashion. Assists with the coordination of short-term and long-term park maintenance planning and implementation.
3) Performs and directs any manual duties required to complete a project to which assigned. Perform, supervise, and direct the routine repairs and maintenance of all motorized equipment to include assigned tools, lawn equipment, and ensure records are kept on equipment maintained.
4) Performs duties related to material management with coordination through the Park Manager. This includes direction or performing repairs of motorized equipment, especially that which is used in his/her area, to include pumps, mowers, weed eaters, park vehicles, carts, chainsaws, woodworking equipment, and hand tools.
5) Participates in planning annual concurrent maintenance projects.
6) Assists with the operation of the park by completing related forms and reports, ordering and stocking bulk items used for repair and clean-up.
7) Practice and promote teamwork within the State Park Service, throughout the agency and with external agency stakeholders. Represents office as an active member on agency teams assigned throughout the year.

High School Diploma or equivalent and three (3) years' experience in building and grounds maintenance.
Additional Requirements:
1) Licensed or competent in electrical, plumbing and carpentry trades. Should be able to read and understand written procedures and directions, understand blueprints, and be able to write specifications for materials.
2) Ability to operate various office equipment.
3) Position requires medium to heavy lifting, walking and standing on uneven terrain, crawling and working at heights. Exposure to weather conditions, cleaning agents, and other materials, tools and equipment used in maintaining park facilities and grounds.
4) Must be able to work a flexible work schedule, including weekends and holidays.
Actual Job Location: Calhoun Falls State Park
Full-time, 40 hours per week rotating schedule to include weekends and holidays.
