Construction Superintendent

Job Description

We are seeking a dedicated Construction Superintendent to lead, direct, and coordinate the work of subcontractors and trade partners. The successful candidate will oversee and manage all day-to-day project activities, including safety, schedule delivery, quality of work, and budget. This role requires an exceptional leader and communicator who will serve as the primary point of contact on projects.

Responsibilities

  • Lead a safety culture for the project.
  • Direct the project team in accordance with the project plan and core values.
  • Provide daily correspondence to the Project Manager regarding daily progress and performance.
  • Coordinate pre-mobilization activities with the Project Manager, General Superintendent, and Project Executive.
  • Develop a start-up schedule and establish a baseline schedule with subcontractor input.
  • Maintain the schedule and ensure work is performed in compliance with the contract to exceed client expectations.
  • Review a two-week look-ahead schedule with the Project Manager and project team.
  • Communicate clear expectations for safety to the project team and perform safety inspections.
  • Ensure that all quality inspections are documented and communicated to the project team.
  • Manage subcontractor quality of work and attend all owner meetings.
  • Lead project turnover, mobilization, and coordination meetings.
  • Complete daily reports and maintain logs of daily activities, files, and shop drawings.
  • Manage subcontractor closeout and punch list.
  • Occasional travel of 150 miles of cooperate headquarters (mileage reimbursement).

  • Working knowledge of programs such as Primavera, Excel, Word, and MS Project.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Effective negotiation and contract management skills.
  • Well-rounded base of knowledge in construction disciplines.
  • 10+ years of commercial/industrial construction management experience.
  • Experience with medium to large projects ($25-50m+).
Additional Skills & Qualifications
  • Bachelors Degree in Construction Management or Engineering preferred.
  • Experience in key markets such as Aerospace, Automotive, Food and Beverage, and General Manufacturing.
  • Construction, construction management, commercial construction, construction supervision, general contractor, subcontractor management, project management, supervision, project scheduling, superintendent, construction safety.
  • Experience managing 5 to 10 direct reports and subcontractors.
  • Good communication skills and experience in site construction, renovation, ground-up projects, safety, concrete, medical facilities, and millwright.
Work Environment

This role requires work both outside and inside. You will be part of a major construction company with a family atmosphere, offering 120 hours of PTO.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $40.86 - $52.88/hr.
