Purpose of Role: The Welder is responsible for identifying and correcting casting defects utilizing the MIG welding process, will also use the MII's (Manufacturing and Inspection Instruction) to ensure proper weld settings and materials are used. The Welder may perform a variety of tasks as job conditions permit including but not limited to structural welding of consumable parts, arcing defects, arcing consumable parts from rigging. The operator will also be responsible for filling in at any operator position in the Heat Treat Department and assist with training new hires and cross training others as needed.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Identifying and Repairing defects that may or may not be marked by inspection

  • Utilize jib hoist to maneuver casting weighing up to 1200 pounds

  • Use MII's and Work Instructions to ensure quality product after welding

  • Record information on tally sheet and pitch board

  • Safety First: Demonstrate 100% commitment to our zero harm behaviors in support of our drive towards developing a world class safety culture.

Job Knowledge/Education and Qualifications:

  • High school diploma/GED

  • 3 years welding experience preferred

  • Completion of Weld Certification as per MII requirement in 90 days

  • Good reading, writing, mathematical, verbal and computer skills
