Machine Operator Job Description This position is located in Oshkosh, where structural steel is fabricated. The facility has recently expanded with the addition of two new metal forming machines aimed at bringing in work previously outsourced for channels and perlings. The successful candidate will assist the machine operator and will be trained to operate fabrication equipment. Responsibilities Assist the machine operator in daily operations. Participate in training to become a machine operator of fabrication equipment. Safely operate hand tools, grinding equipment, and power tools. Follow safety protocols when working around large parts and machinery. Read and interpret blueprints accurately. Collaborate with team members on various tasks in the shop. Essential Skills Mechanical aptitude. 1+ year of metal manufacturing experience in a shop. Ability to read a blueprint. Ability to lift up to 75 lbs. Safety is paramount due to the intimidating size of parts. The work environment is lively with welders, grinders, and other machinery contributing to the noise level. The position runs on a 1st Shift schedule, Monday through Thursday from 6am to 4pm, and half days on Friday, resulting in approximately 48-hour work weeks. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of OSHKOSH, Wisconsin. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $24.00/hr.
