The Miller Operator safely operates machinery used to break up and remove existing asphalt and prepares roadways and related surfaces for new asphalt. Oversees the functioning of the milling equipment. This is highly skilled role.

Responsibilities

Responsibilities & Duties:

Safely and skillfully operates a milling machine following all standard equipment operating procedures.

Maintains equipment in proper operating condition by performing simple preventive maintenance and repairs such as fluid checks, replacing worn out parts and lubricating equipment.

Responsible for daily checks of the milling drum, conveyors and water supply systems.

Maintains constant visual contact with co-workers on foot and trucks in front of the machine.

May perform general Asphalt labor duties

Qualifications:

Must be at least 18 years of age.

Pass pre-employment screening requirements; Drug Screen and Criminal background check

Thorough understanding of all aspects of the paving industry including preparatory work, grades, drainage, paving patterns, aggregate size, job specifications, oil consistencies, compaction and other details related to asphalt paving.

Be willing to work holidays and weekends, and overtime as needed

Must be able to read printed materials, signs and directions.
