Electrical Designer

Job Description

This position seeks to bring on an Electrical Design or Drafting candidate with experience working with industrial panels and someone who can design electrical circuits in accordance with NEC requirements for panels with electric motor loads. Below are some of the responsibilities for the position

Responsibilities

  • Interpret customer specifications, requirements, and project obstacles.
  • Specify the hardware and all of the components for the application's control system (size and select all of the electrical components).
  • Design, layout, and configuration of the control panel.
  • Creation of electrical schematics and wiring design in AutoCAD.
  • Generate bill of materials or BOMs and work through ECN or ECR (Engineering Change notice or Engineering change request.
  • Interaction with customers, field sales, marketing, and production to accomplish goals.
  • Review customer requirements, including customer specifications, Statements of Work, and interface drawings, to ensure contract compliance.
  • Attends job kick-off meetings and participates in design reviews with customers.
  • Supports preparation and updates to engineering task lists and program schedules.
  • Work on schedules and budgets for assigned programs.
  • Design AC & DC electrical systems based on customer specifications.
  • Design communications and signal electrical systems from customer specifications
  • Develops systems layouts, subassembly configurations, and packaging criteria.
  • Prepares wiring diagrams and lists and electrical schedules.
  • Provides design input to engineering design and drafting team.
  • Reviews and approves drawings.
  • Supports the production of prototypes and the production of electrical system builds.
  • Interfaces with other departments to resolve questions and technical issues.
  • Assists in scheduling engineering tasks for assigned programs.

Essential Skills

  • Proficiency in AutoCAD, AutoCAD Electrical, AutoCAD 2D, or AutoCAD LT.
  • Ability to design electrical systems and sub-assemblies to NEC standards and UL requirements.
  • Experience in sizing and selecting electrical components such as switches, relays, fuses, and sensors.
  • Competency in designing control panels and systems to NEC standards.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
  • Associate's Degree in Electrical Engineering Technology, Electronics, or a similar Engineering Degree preferred, Bachelor's Degree accepted.
  • Minimum of 1 year experience in taking engineers' specifications to create control panel designs.
  • Experience with EPlan is a plus.
  • Exposure to PLC troubleshooting or programming is beneficial.
Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $25.00 - $35.00/hr.
