Overview

Advanced Technologies and Laboratories (ATL), a Planned Systems International (PSI) company, is hiring for a Electrical Engineer Associate in Richland, WA.

This position will support Navarro-ATL. Navarro-ATL is located in Richland, WA and operates, manages, and maintains the 222-S Laboratory Complex for the Department of Energy. Navarro-ATL members are Navarro Research and Engineering, Inc. (Oak Ridge, TN), and Advanced Technologies and Laboratories International (Gaithersburg, MD).

Essential Functions and Job Responsibilities

Supports the 222-S Complex with electrical engineering, project engineering, and other duties as assigned with general supervision. Performs a variety of engineering duties including, but not limited to: new electrical equipment design and upgrades of existing electrical systems, electrical safety evaluations and worker protective equipment determinations, developing and approving work packages and Engineering Change Notices (ECNs), conducting field walk-downs, developing specifications, performing and/or reviewing calculations, testing, design/procedural reviews, and assisting in the planning and execution of field work. Performs engineering work in accordance with applicable codes, standards, procedures, and criteria in carrying out a sequence of related engineering or project tasks. Demonstrates problem-solving and exercise of judgment as required on advanced level work details and in making preliminary selections and adaptations of engineering alternatives.

Assume technical responsibility for one more related phases of a project and cooperate with other engineers performing related phases of technical work.

Use and/or application of codes and standards and engineering principles, to prepare electrical designs and other design engineering documents as assigned.

Implement and manage Preventative Maintenance (PM) for assigned systems. Support the team planning process to develop work instruction to safely implement designs within the 222-S Complex. Oversee field modifications and acceptance testing and perform field work complete walk downs.

Prepare technical reports and review designs, plans, and shop drawings. Perform electrical analysis using MathCad, AutoCAD, Smart Plant, and other software. Apply working knowledge of National Electric Code (NEC), NFPA 70E (Electrical Safety in the Work Place) and other codes, manuals, and standards to engineering design.

Coordinate and work closely with other engineering, maintenance, operations, financial, and program management disciplines to define system specifications and requirements.

Minimum Requirements

BS Degree in Electrical Engineering or similar engineering discipline and minimum 2 years of directly related experience.

Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Desired Qualifications

One year of nuclear engineering experience.

Compensation

Grade 16: $88,200 - $111,100

The grade level offered to the selected candidate will be based on business needs and the candidate's education, training, and/or relevant experience.
