Mechanical Engineer

At Meta Reality Labs (FRL), our goal is to explore, innovate and design novel interfaces and hardware subsystems for the next generation of virtual, augmented, and mixed reality experiences. We are looking for an experienced Mechanical Engineer to join our team, whose mission is to work with a broad range of multidisciplinary research to advance the state of the art of AR/VR experiences. We are specifically looking for a candidate with experience developing designs for wearable devices while considering a broad range of hardware requirements including materials, manufacturability, form factor, ergonomics, and integration of technologies on softgoods substrates. The candidate will explore novel ideas through concept feasibility studies, fast and interactive prototyping, and use of CAD tools for architectural development and analytical modeling. The candidate will consider a broad range of business and hardware requirements including materials, manufacturability, form factor, ergonomics, and integration of technologies on softgoods substrates. The candidate will work with a team of researchers and engineers who are focused on haptics, sensor fusion, novel materials, and AR/VR-specific human-computer-interface paradigms. More broadly, the candidate will work with a highly interdisciplinary team of researchers with a broad range of experiences, perspectives, approaches, and backgrounds, and will have access to cutting edge technology, resources, and testing facilities.BS in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent design experience 5+ years of experience working on high-volume consumer products 5+ years of experience in 3D CAD modeling (NX) and physical prototyping Demonstrated experience with manufacturing techniques (machining, 3D printing, injection molding, etc.) Experience with component/system level modeling and optimization Design of Experiments and Design for Six Sigma 7+ years of product design/prototyping and R&D experience, including subsystem ownership Demonstrated experience developing designs for wearable technologies including sensors, materials, and haptics 3+ years experience designing handheld and wearable electronics for high-volume manufacturing Demonstrated experience leading overseas suppliers in an ODM or JDM model
