Pineland Farms is one of the largest food manufacturing organizations located in Aroostook County. Our Mars Hill facility has over 200 incredible team members who work together to provide our customers with the best possible potato product. Responsibilities Position Summary: Perform skilled journey-level work in the construction, maintenance and repair of electrical and electronic equipment, apparatus and fixtures. This position has the responsibility to comply with Safety work rules at all times as well as an obligation to reinforce Safety as a Core Value. Duties and Responsibilities: Inspect, maintain repair and overhaul electromechanical and solid-state electrical equipment, using a variety of electrical test equipment, meters, powered and non-powered tools and equipment. Assemble, install, test, and maintain electrical or electronic wiring, equipment, appliances, apparatus, and fixtures, using hand tools and power tools. Diagnose malfunctioning systems, apparatus, and components, using test equipment and hand tools, to locate the cause of a breakdown and correct the problem. Connect wires to circuit breakers, transformers, or other components. Inspect electrical systems, equipment, and components to identify hazards, defects, and the need for adjustment or repair, and to ensure compliance with codes. Advise management on whether continued operation of equipment could be hazardous. Test electrical systems and continuity of circuits in electrical wiring, equipment, and fixtures, using testing devices such as ohmmeters and voltmeters to ensure compatibility and safety of system. Maintain current electrician's license or identification card to meet governmental regulations. Plan layout and installation of electrical wiring, equipment and fixtures, based on job specifications and local codes. Direct and train workers to install, maintain, or repair electrical wiring, equipment, and fixtures. Prepare sketches or follow blueprints to determine the location of wiring and equipment and to ensure conformance to building and safety codes. Install ground leads and connect power cables to equipment, such as motors. Perform business management duties such as maintaining records and files, preparing reports and ordering supplies and equipment. Repair or replace wiring, equipment, and fixtures, using hand tools and power tools. Work from ladders, scaffolds, and roofs to install, maintain or repair electrical wiring, equipment, and fixtures. Place conduit (pipes or tubing) inside designated partitions, walls, or other concealed areas, and pull insulated wires or cables through the conduit to complete circuits between boxes. Construct and fabricate parts, using hand tools and specifications. Fasten small metal or plastic boxes to walls to house electrical switches or outlets. Provide preliminary sketches and cost estimates for materials and services. Install new electrical and electronic equipment and electrical wiring according to the National Electrical Code and company electrical standards. Maintain and repair electrical and electronic systems for facilities and equipment. Work safely and cooperatively with co-workers Perform all work in compliance with applicable codes, standards, safety and environment regulations. Responsible for station lockout/tagout procedures as mandated by company policy. Follow all SQF principles pertinent to your position as specified by the SQF Practitioner. All food safety and human safety concerns need to be reported to appropriate personnel such as QA technician, Safety Manager, FSQ Manager, etc. All other duties as assigned. Qualifications Knowledge: Methods, equipment and materials used in the electrical trade. General knowledge of health, safety and environmental regulations. Applicable laws, codes, regulations, policies and procedures. Principles of electronic theory as applied to electrical and electronic circuits, wiring and electrical equipment used in manufacturing Installing equipment, machines, wiring, or programs to meet specifications. Understanding written sentences and paragraphs in work related documents. Giving full attention to what other people are saying, taking time to understand the points Being made, asking questions as appropriate, and not interrupting at inappropriate times. Determining causes of operating errors and deciding what to do about it Determining the kind of tools and equipment needed to do a job. Repairing machines or systems using the needed tools. Considering the relative costs and benefits of potential actions to choose the most appropriate one. Managing one's own time and the time of others. Using mathematics to solve problems. Understanding the implications of new information for both current and future problem-solving and decision-making. Talking to others to convey information effectively. Adjusting actions in relation to others' actions. Using logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions or approaches to problems. Performing routine maintenance on equipment and determining when and what kind of maintenance is needed. Selecting and using training/instructional methods and procedures appropriate for the situation when learning or teaching new things. Identifying complex problems and reviewing related information to develop and evaluate options and implement solutions. Proficient written and verbal communication skills. Work from blueprints, shop drawings and sketches. Work independently with little direction. Establish and maintain cooperative and effective working relationships with others Education/Experience: High School diploma or equivalent. Completion of a recognized vocational education program in electrical or industrial electrical or industrial training -OR- completion of a recognized Electrical Apprenticeship Program and three out of the last five years' journey-level experience as an electrician in the industrial maintenance field Possession and maintenance of valid drivers' license Physical Demands: Requires climbing, standing, bending and lifting heavy objects in awkward and confined spaces using proper lifting and rigging techniques.
