Precision Sheet Metal Operator

Day Shift: Monday - Friday 6:00 am to 2:30 pm

As a Precision Sheet Metal Operator, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the quality and efficiency of our production processes. You will be responsible for setting up and operating sheet metal fabrication machinery, primarily CNC turret punches, as well as press brakes, shears, and lasers, to produce high-quality, precision metal components. The ideal candidate will be able to accurately interpret manufacturing orders, select and obtain the correct materials, perform machine programming, and maintain a safe and organized work environment.

Essential Functions:

Perform setups according to program directives, using shims, blocks, supports, and fixtures to ensure proper alignment of parts. Primarily operate CNC turret punch ( LVD Strippit P), press brakes, shears, lasers, and other sheet metal fabrication machinery effectively.

Identify and obtain correct materials as specified on manufacturing orders.

Read, comprehend, and follow work order instructions to determine specifications, including materials, bend lines, dimensions, and tolerances.

Quality Control: Produce high-quality, precision metal components, ensuring adherence to specifications.

Proficient in machine and offline programming and metal fabrication to specifications. Perform basic machine maintenance.

Technical Drawings: Proficient in reading and interpreting shop/CAD drawings, blueprints, and welding specifications.

Able to read/use measuring equipment (tape measure, micrometer, square, protractor, etc.) and understand mathematics to verify job requirements, specifications, and maintain quality controls.

Keep work area clean and organized at all times, including machine surfaces.

Carries out additional duties as assigned.

Required Skills & Abilities:

1+ years of experience operating metal fabricating equipment.

Ability to identify potential issues with machinery, parts, or process.

Knowledge of and ability to apply basic mathematical skills to the work environment.

Ability to identify, organize, estimate, and recognize differences or similarities with excellent attention to detail.

Knowledge or experience working in an inclusive work environment, particularly those persons with disabilities.

Skill in prioritizing and managing a fast-paced work environment.

Currently able to speak, read and write fluent English.

Physical Demands and Work Environment

To perform the essential functions of the role, employees must be able to perform the following activities with or without reasonable accommodations:

Regularly stand and walk throughout the facility, including all buildings and the manufacturing areas

Regularly lift, carry (short distances), and push/pull up to 50 pounds.

Regularly climb steps, stairs, or ladders

Occasionally bend, crawl, stoop, squat, or kneel.

Constantly communicate verbally and in writing (English) using a phone, texts, or other messaging

Visual acuity to accurately identify, organize, estimate, and recognize differences or similarities; accurately distinguish colors.

Use hands and fingers to operate computer keyboards, and measurement instruments, and manually examine parts.

Working Conditions

Work is performed in a manufacturing shop environment where working conditions may vary significantly; the employee will be exposed to:

Excessive noise (hearing protection required)

Dust, smoke, fumes/vapors (occasionally)

Extreme temperatures (occasionally)

Hazardous equipment including forklifts, hand tools, cranes or other lifting devices, and other equipment used in a machine shop environment.

The use of PPE, including hearing protection, eye and hand protection, and use of safety footwear is required.
