Building Services at The University of Tennessee at Martin is currently accepting applications for a Plumber I. Responsibilities include but are not limited to working on commercial and residential plumbing repairs, maintenance and new installation of the campus plumbing systems. Responding to emergency call backs nights, weekends, and holidays.

Responsibilities

Job Duties:

Perform skilled plumbing work in the completion of assigned daily work orders for maintenance and repairs of domestic plumbing systems by diagnosing the problem and making the proper repairs in academic buildings, dorm rooms and apartments. Which includes unclogging main sewer drain lines, toilets, sinks, tub, and shower units. Installation and repairs of sink & faucets, lavatories & faucets, tub/showers & faucets, toilets & flush valves, urinals & flush valves.

Installation of plumbing systems in buildings and remodel work, installing drain lines, vent lines, water lines, gas lines, air lines, vacuum lines, water heaters, boilers, setting faucets and fixtures inside the building. The installation of underground main water and sewer lines.

The ability to install water lines and gas piping by measuring, cutting, soldering, using propress tool, pex tool and threading gas pipe.

The ability to work with outside contractors on the building projects, fire system inspections & repairs, backflow valve inspections & repairs, boiler inspections & repairs, fiberglass tub inspections & repairs, sump pit pumping.

Qualifications

Qualifications:

Typically requires a high school diploma and one year of relevant experience, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.

Plumbing experience or a state plumbing license

Ability to read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings and do material take offs for projects

Knowledge of plumbing codes and regulations

Use of all power tools associated with the installation and repairs of plumbing systems

Ability to communicate effectively and customer service skills

High School Diploma or equivalent

Valid driver's license
