What You'll Do:
As a Maintenance Mechanic on 2nd shift (Mon - Fri, 2p-10p), you will play a crucial role in ensuring our production equipment runs smoothly and efficiently. Your expertise will be vital in maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing machinery to keep our operations running at peak performance. You'll be part of a supportive team that values collaboration and continuous improvement, all within a temperature-controlled building.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Equipment Maintenance and Repair: Run or observe all basic machine shop equipment to diagnose problems and make repairs. Perform preventive maintenance (PMs) on equipment, dismantle devices to access and remove defective parts, inspect used parts for dimensional changes, and adjust functional parts of devices and control instruments. Repair or replace defective parts, install special functional and structural parts, lubricate and clean parts, and start devices to test their performance.
- Machining and Fabrication: Set up and operate lathe, drill press, grinder, and other metalworking tools to make and repair parts. Weld and fabricate as needed to repair or create equipment or workstation elements.
- Electrical and Automation Support: Plan, organize, and formulate operations to support electrical panel builds, providing input on controls, I/O, and panel layout. Provide insight to the engineering group for the design, structure, and implementation of automation projects. Repair electrical equipment.
- Safety and Cleanliness: Maintain a clean workplace and clean up after repairs. Adhere to all established safety standards, guidelines, and procedures, including utilizing lockout/tag out procedures and ARC flash.
- Project and Team Participation: Participate with the Project Improvement Team and provide daily shift reports.
- Installation and Inspection: Install complex machinery and equipment, precision align machinery, lathe, mills, and presses. Perform inspections as required.
- Powered Industrial Vehicle (PIV): Utilize overhead lift to perform cleaning and maintenance tasks. Operate industrial trucks or electric hoists to assist in loading or moving materials and products.
- Procurement: Initiate purchase orders for parts and machines.
Minimum Qualifications:
- High school diploma or GED required.
- Minimum of two years of experience (preferred).
- Knowledge of machine repair, PLCs, automation, and robotics.
- A team player with a customer service and safety mentality, with the ability to collaborate with others.
- Strong ability to multi-task, prioritize, and work to a timeline.
- Capable of thriving in a fast-paced and evolving environment with minimal direct supervision.
Physical Demands:
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee will need the ability to stand and lift or carry less than 5 pounds up to 100% of the time in a typical day; have the ability to continuously (over 70% of the time in a typical week) walk, lift or carry up to 25 pounds, hear, need full use of two hands, use vision closely and at a distance, grasp or pinch; have the ability to frequently (45%-70% of the time in a typical week) speak, kneel or squat, bend or stoop, push and/or pull; have the ability to occasionally (15-45% of the time in a week), work with arms above shoulder, perform repetitive movement, work at heights greater than 12 feet, smell, climb, lift or carry 25-60 pounds; have the ability to intermittently (less than 15% of time in a typical week), sit, lift or carry over 60 pounds, work in extreme heat or cold. Depending on the task or project, the employee needs the ability to perform the physical requirements outlined above for an entire shift.
