POSITION SUMMARY

The Door Fabricator works on building the doors and installing them onto the body. They will measure, bend, and weld door parts together. The Door Fabricator will ensure door parts are cut accurately and trim to fit if needed. Also, they will install Styrofoam in between door plates for noise reduction and stability for the door.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Builds and installs doors onto the body of the fire apparatus.

Accurately measures, bends, and welds door parts together.

Ensure door parts are cut accurately and trim to fit if needed.

Installation of Styrofoam in between door plates for noise reduction and stability for the door.

Works efficiently with hand tools, welding tools, and hydraulic press brake.

Performs other duties and responsibilities as required by management to meet the needs of the organization and our members.

Qualifications

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES (KSA'S):

Knowledge, Education, and/or Experience:

High school diploma/GED required.

Experience using MIG and TIG welding equipment is required.

Brake press experience is required.

Skills:

Language:

Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals.

Math:

Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, fractions, and decimals.

Abilities:

Knowledge of basic inspection tools, machining skills or related fields.

Able to recognize the importance and adhere to all safety policies to promote a safe working environment.

Able to read and work from blueprints/spec book.

Strong mechanical and technical aptitude.

Ability to use basic hand tools and tape measure.
