Summary:
The foreman Is a technically oriented leader with a background in electrical construction and coordination of construction materials, equipment, and human resources.
This position has been designated as safety sensitive. It is a position that includes tasks and duties that could affect the safety and health of the employee or others. The position requires the employee's full and unimpaired skills and judgment to safely execute all job responsibilities.
Essential Accountabilities: The following are intended to be examples of the accountabilities for which the person in this position is responsible. This description is not intended to be complete or all-inclusive and does not preclude management from assigning other or related functions if such functions are a logical assignment for the position.
Runs a crew or project of up to 15,000 man-hours per year.
Supervises 5-10 employees.
Maintains Crew Productivity Level of 80% or higher.
Has obtained a minimum of six months at Foreman Level 1 or successful completion of One project.
Has obtained a minimum of four years of documented work in electrical commercial or industrial construction with one year at the JW level or higher.
Has completed Ludvik Leader I and other company-sponsored supervisory training.
Has completed 24 hours of continuing education each year.
Demonstrates the knowledge and application of Ludvik Foreman duties, responsibilities, and expectations.
Able to provide an accurate, man-loaded 3-week schedule.
Moderate understanding of Ludvik Electric cost codes and time reporting with no errors.
Able to identify Base Contract work vs. Change Order work. Able to cost code accurately and proceed with Changes in accordance with Contract and Management.
Demonstrates the ability to supervise, evaluate and develop journeymen and apprentices.
Adapts to the scope of work depending on the size of the project.
Understands when and how to utilize field shop drawings; in accordance with Contract Drawings and Specifications.
Orders, releases, and tracks material for proper installation. Materials are ordered with sufficient time to install per direction and schedule. Materials are ordered in accordance with Contract Drawings and Specifications.
Demonstrates quality electrical installation and mechanical abilities.
Able to provide and maintain an accurate set of As-Built Drawings and Panel Schedules.
Communicates intelligently, confidently and directly with other trades foremen level of supervisors.
Minimal re-work and loose ends.
Fills out Daily Log every day without being reminded.
Field Productivity
Provides the first line of supervision of craft personnel.
Monitors all Journeyman and Apprentices and their daily production. If productivity is low consult with supervisor for proper adjustments in men, materials, tools, or layout.
Responsible for complete layout coordination. Makes dimensioned sketches of all pads, sleeves, underground runs, electrical rooms, and equipment rooms for ease of installation as necessary. Checks all feeder schedules to coordinate wire size and quantity of wires, with conduit size.
Coordinates installation with other trades.
Manages Journeyman and Apprentice quality control and methods of installation.
Fields Journeyman and Apprentice problems and resolves.
Monitors correct tools and materials are in all work areas in a timely manner.
Monitors all team members exhibit and promote a positive mental attitude and high morale during the entire project.
Sees that Journeyman's paperwork is filled out correctly before being reviewed by supervisor.
Ensures safe work practices with all methods of installation.
Ensures that no work is performed which is outside the scope of the current contract, without authorization from the supervisor and a LECO number issued by the Project Coordinator.
Fills out daily field reports completely. Keeps a written daily log.
Coordinates all work with other trades and if shop drawings or RFI's can't be obtained, consults with supervisor or Project Coordinator. Always keep ahead of other trades so as not to delay them.
Schedule
Follows scheduled activities as directed by the supervisor.
Notifies supervisor of any delays or impacts to accomplishing assigned field tasks for input into the Project Schedule Window Log updates.
Material Management
Plans ahead for miscellaneous material purchases in bulk, not piecemeal.
Verifies wire lengths for optimum field productivity.
Refuses all material which is delivered that does not meet job specifications.
Does not re-order material without checking with supervisor for backorder status.
Unloads, and stores materials in a secure area, checking in and listing all materials against the purchase order and approved submittals.
Notifies supervisor of any damaged or missing items.
Regularly returns all unused materials and tools to staging area or Main Warehouse.
Other Project Duties
Conducts weekly safety meetings and records persons present as well as any comments or problems.
Keeps safety meeting minutes and fills out all injury reports in a timely manner.
Attends Subcontractor foreman meetings with a personal agenda indicating all electrical needs. Ensures that all comments are recorded in meeting minutes, if not, reviews with Project Coordinator or Project Manager.
Records and turns in time tickets as required, with correct hours and phasing.
Acts upon new correspondence and drawings from supervisor only, not the client.
Conducts a daily meeting with the supervisor to review all problems.
Updates as-built drawings weekly and conforms with specifications.
Updates own on-going punch list completing areas as the job progresses. Eliminates loose ends!
Performs all punch lists in a timely manner.
