Title: CAD Drafter
Location: Charleston, TN

Salary: $83,600 to $105,000
Schedule: 9/80 Shift

Focus: The CAD Drafter is responsible for using CAD (computer aided design software) to develop plans, drawings and sketches to prepare a visual depiction of a process or of equipment.

CAD Drafter Essential Functions:

  • Uses CAD software to create detailed drawings that include dimensions, procedures and required materials. Also uses views and angles to show the association between systems and components, often consulting co-workers regarding design and layouts
  • Creates drawings and models from verbal and written specifications that are obtained from the project engineer, developing 3D models by analyzing 2D drawings and prototypes
  • Examines and checks engineering drawings to comply with cited specifications
  • Takes care of complex drafting and designing assignments with little to no supervision and reviews drawings for accuracy and completeness. Also maintains all revisions of project drawings
  • Collaborates and works with engineers regarding drafting standards, model design and accuracy, maintenance of coordination design efforts, and design documentation
  • Makes non-complex revisions to existing drawings as assigned after verbal explanation of the desired results
  • May offer timely technical assistance and solutions to the design team
  • Serves as Document Control focal for checking out/in drawings to/from external engineering companies

Minimum Requirements:

  • High school diploma or equivalent and Design Technical Training; Associates degree* in CAD preferred.
  • Must have CAD skills; 10+ years of drafting experience preferred.
  • Able to produce complex drawings or revisions that clearly depict the desired product
  • General knowledge of drafting expertise, personal computer operations, construction practices and be able to make numerical calculations sufficiently well to perform general and specific duties
  • Must be willing and capable of learning other CAD programs
  • Knowledge of SmartPlant P&ID module is strongly preferred
  • Good interpersonal and communication skills, both verbal and written
  • Demonstrated time management and organizational skills
  • Prior Olin experience in a relevant position preferred
  • Must be able to obtain a TWIC (Transportation Worker Identification Credential)
