The City of Naperville is currently seeking a Senior Civil/Environmental Engineer to be responsible for engineering design, construction management, and inspection in respect to water distribution, water collection and pumping, and wastewater treatment improvement projects. The Senior Engineer conducts reviews and provides engineering assistance on private developments for water mains & sanitary sewer system construction, and performs engineering calculations and analysis on water and sanitary systems.

The anticipated hiring range for this position is $94,971.26 - $113,965.51 per year, commensurate with credentials and experience.

  • Performs design engineering. Prepares construction plans, specifications, and contract bid documents for the utilitys capital improvement projects.
  • Manages engineering support vendors and maintains quality assurance of third party designs.
  • Manages the construction and inspection of capital improvement projects for water distribution, water collection and pumping, and wastewater treatment.
  • Administers large dollar projects with responsibility for budget, quality control, and schedule.
  • Evaluates changes in project scope and recommends solutions to the Citys contractors and to the Director of Public Utilities Water/Wastewater.
  • Reviews electrical, structural, mechanical, and civil shop drawings for compliance with contract documents and City, State, and Federal standards.
  • Performs engineering reviews of residential and commercial developments to verify materials along with alignment and placement of all sanitary sewer and watermain-related items.
  • Coordinates with developers, their engineers, and contractors to resolve design and construction-related issues on residential and commercial developments.
  • Represents utilitys interests when coordinating with other City departments (TED, DPU-E, DPW, etc.), governmental agencies (DuPage and/or Will County, IDOT, etc.), vendors, and outside consultants.
  • Performs hydraulic network development and analysis of water distribution and sanitary collection systems. Provides recommendations for improvements and maintenance of the system.
  • Provides technical assistance on water and wastewater utility operations.
  • Performs all other related duties as assigned.

Required

  • A Bachelor's Degree in Civil/Environmental, Mechanical, or Electrical Engineering or a related field.
  • Five years of work experience in related field.
  • A valid State of Illinois Professional Engineer License.
  • Experience with water distribution systems, sanitary sewer collection systems, wastewater treatment plant design, and construction management.
  • A valid State of Illinois Class D drivers license.

Preferred

  • Experience with WaterGems and Infoworks ICM modeling.
