Responsibilities

• Preventive Maintenance: They perform regular checks, cleaning, lubrication, and adjustments to extend equipment life and prevent future issues, always following set schedules.
• Troubleshooting & Diagnosis: Mechanics pinpoint the root cause of problems—be it mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, or pneumatic—using observations and diagnostic tests.
• Repair & Replacement: They disassemble, fix, and reassemble machinery, replacing worn parts or even fabricating new ones using shop tools like lathes and grinders.
• Installation & Calibration: This involves setting up new machinery and precisely aligning or calibrating it to meet operational standards.
• Documentation: Accurate record-keeping of all maintenance, repairs, parts used, and issues encountered is crucial.
• Safety Compliance: Strict adherence to safety protocols, including Lockout/Tagout (LOTO), is paramount to ensure a safe work environment.
• Collaboration: They work closely with production teams, other maintenance staff, and supervisors to tackle equipment challenges and boost efficiency.
• Reading Technical Documents: Interpreting blueprints, schematics, and manuals is essential for understanding how equipment works and how to fix it.
• Emergency Response: Mechanics react quickly to breakdowns, minimizing costly production delays.
