Position Summary \nThe Structural Engineering Associate (EA) I & II is an entry-level role suited for individuals with up to four years of professional experience. This position involves assignments intended to build engineering knowledge and practical skills. The role requires the application of standard engineering techniques, procedures, and criteria to a variety of tasks. While limited judgment is required, the EA will assist in making preliminary decisions and adaptations of engineering methods. \n\nDuties and Responsibilities \n\n\nApply principles of good engineering practice to all assignments. \n \n\nUtilize computers, handbooks, and drawing instruments effectively. \n \n\nPerform basic design calculations within assigned discipline. \n \n\nProduce accurate, detailed, and productive work. \n \n\nAssist in preliminary design studies and project planning. \n \n\nSupport preparation of specifications, cost estimates, reports, and studies. \n \n\nCreate design layouts, detailed drawings, and sketches. \n \n\nReview and check designs prepared by others. \n \n\nEmploy CAD and other computer-based tools in design efforts. \n \n\nRecognize limitations and seek guidance when necessary. \n \n\nAdhere to company safety and quality policies and procedures. \n \n \n\nQualifications \nMinimum Requirements \n\n\nBachelor's degree in Engineering from an accredited institution. \n \n\nEIT (Engineer-in-Training) certification preferred. \n \n\nStrong verbal and written communication skills. \n \n \nPhysical Requirements \n\n\nWillingness to work flexible hours, including overtime and overnight travel as required. \n \n\nAbility to operate a computer and remain seated for extended periods. \n \n\nCapable of working outdoors and on uneven surfaces (e.g., concrete, grass, dirt, gravel). \n \n\nValid driver's license with the ability to travel as needed. \n \n \n\nAbout Thompson Engineering \nFounded in 1953, Thompson Engineering began by providing quality assurance services for construction projects across the Gulf Coast.
